Comment on Japan Bans American Pens as “Weapons” by Tankenka:

It takes exactly 6lbs of pressure to impale a person with a sharpened weapon. That is as hard as tapping the table with your finger or a knock on a door. A pen like this one would take not more than 10lbs pressure – no more than you’d put into a friendly smack on someone’s ass.

Of course… there is the other point (pun intended) being overlooked – is that *actually* what customs said or is it what the spindoctors (Public Relations Expert, Publicist, Spokesperson, etc) of the companies said? It is *VERY* unlikely that the “use for self-defence” was the reason – it was simply the only reason that the spin-doctors used to grab attention. There’s a great deal more depth than that to any restriction, and likely there are incident reports to back up their banning on this …

Don’t forget assault rifles and rocket launchers to protect your home from those vicious kittens in suburbia!

Or the “Ignorant American” hypocrisy~ where if you don’t do something the “American Way” you’re a savage. Ignorant racists like you should never leave the borders of your country – you’re an embarrassment to the millions of educated and sincere Americans that have to live with ignorant and racist fucks like you.

I can see why these pens would be banned. Yes, there are plenty of things within Japan that can be used for self-defence, in fact there are stores that sell things precisely for that reason. However – companies that want to export to other countries crying about “unfair” is typical of American culture: “we should be able to do anything we want! What’s wrong with that!?” From a martial artists stand-point, I can think of a great many ways that I could use this pen to seriously injure or kill a …

“Way shorter” well… only by 2″ on average. The average height of women in Japan is 5’2.5″ where in the USA it’s 5’4.5″. Women in Canada are only an average of 5’3.5″. So they’re not “way shorter” but they are, on average, shorter. This information is accurate as of 2008 global auxology reports.

I wonder if the authorities know that the statutory age in Japan is 14. Of course, the problem here isn’t the statutory age, rather, it’s the fact that the elder was in a position of authority (teacher, parent, officer, doctor, etc etc). I wonder what the young lady had to say / feel about all of that.

  • Teacher Sacked for Being Porn Star:
This is yet another among hundreds of such stories (for varying reasons) that I’ve moved overseas and left North America permanently. Not that Asia is without problem and political strife – but on a basic level of society (one where the day-to-day is the major concern) – people applaud others for having made their way out. In the case of some, such as with Italy, porn stars even run for prime minister! It’s very sad that people in general go on and on about forgiveness, let go of the past, make …
