  Exactly. There is a dedicated self defense and CQC class for this PEN or Kubotan style weapons for pressure point striking. So although it’s marketed as a PEN, it’s use is a hidden Kubotan disguised as a pen. It’s heavy duty construction is no joke or lie, it’s specially made with wavy duty materials to withstand abuse and preventing the pen from breaking.

  From what I worked with airports and so forth, these self defense and cqb pens can be used on the plane or airport to threaten someone with less lethal to possibly puncture wounds to force the victim to hijack a plane or some type of other demand like money. Since these are disguised as pens, it will pass metal detectors and untrained TSA officers who use xrays as normal pens.   The show indeed doesn’t take itself too seriously but there is a story in here. Sure, it ain’t as serious as the 1st season but the new group of “Dark Samurai” aren’t all that bad/evil. More or less “honorable” foes who want a fair mano y mano against Jubei and her posse. Why? well, the suspense IS kind off dragging (and we’re at episode 7 already).
