This is not a bad show, but it’s hard to be satisfied with a lot of the episodes. Every decision is either talked out of or brought to a peaceful resolution, and the ending leaves you with more questions than answers while the villain runs free despite having killed off countless pirates. Throughout it all Ririka is being two faced, despite her daughter being in apparent mortal peril from a deadly pirate hunter.
This post probably sounds too negative, so I’ll balance it out a bit. I enjoyed it well enough to complete both seasons, but unless there’s actually something at stake, I probably won’t rush out to buy the Blu Ray.

I actually found it to never really get above an “alright” level. The animation quality is pretty good, and it has an interesting premise, but the story and character development never really go anywhere. The characters are all shallow and boring, despite being superficially varied. Throughout the entire anime, no one showed any real emotion, or acted on their own in any interesting way. I hope this doesn’t just turn into a generic TV anime to appeal to the mass otaku market. There’s some serious potential here.
