Atelier Ayesha: “It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This!”

Atelier Ayesha’s much anticipated launch has unsurprisingly seen it being hailed as the very pinnacle of RPG cuteness, and it is easy to see why – both art and graphics take moe to new heights.
Despite having dispensed with a loli protagonist for the time being, it still seems destined to face a critical onslaught in the western gaming press for not having a sufficiently butch heroine (or perhaps just not having a muscular enough advertising budget) – not that this will likely dissuade its core audience in Japan or overseas from buying it in droves.

English with jap Dubs PLEASE!
O.O
Good news is NISA always does this with the GUST games. So yes, you'll have JP audio.
(Ar Tonelico 2 was an exception and a technical limitation)
Eh, are you kidding? AT2 had a JP audio option.
AT2 was easily one of the best RPGs on the PS2. Good story and characters and of course an awesome soundtrack.
AT3 is the weakest in the series. The combat system is kind of bland and the 3D graphics just don't stand up to the sprites they used in the previous games.
I loved Ar Tonelico so much I can't even describe it. I decided to become a game animator because of Chrono Trigger, and not since Chrono Trigger have I gotten the same feeling playing a game until Ar Tonelico. To this day I cannot explain why, maybe it was exactly what I wanted at the right time, but Ar Tonelico is easily one of the greatest series I have ever played for its ability to pull off an unparalleled atmosphere.
As such, hearing that they removed some of the Japanese audio made me incredibly sad. In fact I will buy it on PSN if they ever release it with full Japanese. Until then though, PCSX2 and the Undub rom were such a great, great thing to find. The controls were slightly strange, but in order to hear them talk, I got used to them.
I have yet to play Ar Tonelico 3 because... well... my friends' impressions of it make me scared.
@Anon 3:27
Only times I bring up my occupation is when it's an anecdote to prove a point related to the videogames industry, or in this case, to express just how much the series meant to me. I wasn't lying about any of that, it wasn't an excuse to bring it up. It just happened that many of the recent articles worth commenting on were videogame related, and several of the articles were directly related to my experiences in the industry, such as knowing how terrible outsourcing can be.
I'm not sure what 'reputation' you're talking about. I've never brought it up in a sense to say I was better than anyone else, just that it is who I am. I am an animator, it's who I am, with some experience in games, and am directly affected by some of the articles I post on. If you don't like it... I don't know what to say.
@HouseLife
Almost all of your comments mention your occupation. It kind of seems like you keep mentioning it because you want attention, so for the good of your own reputation: stop.
Anon above me is right, it had JP audio. It was one of my favorite Ps2 games so I would know:D
The bad news is Gust is now a part of Koei Tecmo. I don't think that KT will leave this game to NISA's hand anymore

fixed.
You realize your sentence indicates you want them to do an English dub and then dub it again with Japanese, don't you?
Oh, and by the way, the gothic girl's evil skirt-shorts are unforgivable.
Just give her a mini-skirt and stop crushing men's hopes.
shitty weeaboo
Love the artwork and the costumes are fantastic! I'm definitely thinking of cosplaying a couple of dresses I see. Especially the costumes in pics # 004 and 017.
Placing my order now!
Gust, just take my money already.
<3 the one with the pickaxe
Im gonna get this game!
"not that this will likely dissuade its core audience in Japan or overseas from buying it in droves."
Damn RIGHT!!!
Tanned loli is sooo fine
must have game throws money at screen but nothing happens.
I'd buy a PS3 just to play it
I second that!
It's lovely. Let me explore freely and I'm sold.
@Aneko: I've read that the world in this is the biggest in the Atelier series for the PS3, so there should be a lot more to explore than the last games in the series.
I've also seen the video as well, and the maps are huge!
This is not your mothers crotch. :-)
That's what you came up with? Seriously?
If it's just for the art and the graphics, why bother buying a game, let alone a PS3? Wouldn't an artbook be much more cost-effective? ;)
I usually buy games from GUST because of their great characters and the fun game-play. And the music is always so breathtaking in their games.
Oh, and the LE comes with the art-book! So It's best of both worlds.
Hmm what can I say? Great character models indeed, bland backgrounds with almost nothing on it, stiff character motions that look like moving logs, battle effects from the beginning of PS2's era. But who cares about all of that as long as the characters are Moe as hell! Artefacts and anime otakus are so easily to please nowadays, not like it is a bad thing.
Graphic novel with jumbled pages to emulate choices. Add an audio CD with tracks to each chapter.
That'd be pretty awesome.
it has nakata joji in it , so the western audience should be fine manlyness wise...
only in the PlayStation 3
Western Review: "and once again, no fucks were given that day"
Fuck you Gamespot!!
But how is the PLOT?
Judging by the majority of GUST's games...
They're excellent!
This my friends is what I call eye candy. So good.
sadly, it still suffers from pre-animated hair and cloth movement. If they can solve this one problem, this could improve the graphics of the game significantly.
otherwise, the screenshots looks so nice that the first time I saw them, I thought I was looking at a drawing!
Awesome
Holy shit. A a JRPG where the male characters aren't adolescent prettyboys. Haven't seen one of these in a while. Gotta say I like this new artist.
Fuck, I overlooked Pic 109.
Stand back. That old man looks significantly bad-ass.
Should I get the previous two Atelier games?
I really enjoyed the PS2 Atelier games and especially Mana Khemia, but Atelier Rorona was a serious disappoitment. I absolutely HATED the time management aspect and the battles were boring and primitive (especially compared to the great system in Mana Khemia). Are the sequels and, more importantly this game more of the same or are they closer to the PS2 games? I´d like to know, because I really want to support the JRPG, but after Rorona and the total disaster of Ar Tonelico 3 I´ve stopped buying Gusts output. Cuteness alone just dosn´t sell a game for me.
Any word if NIS is bringing this to america? My guess is yes, but hoping for an official confirmation.
What does she say in 040? I can read "Onani nanika..."
Tanya FTW.
It says "Do you need the owner (shop owner) for something?"
It's o-na- or onnaa for 'owner' not onani btw
