for one, this is billions of years out and we only know so much on the subject, however, the sun contains mass regardless of which form it’s in, so after it shrinks down it will become solid.
after the sun explodes (white dwarf stage) it will become a very very heavy solid possibly taking the form of a black hole, however size size of the star may have some dependance on the matter if this will even happen.

basically the sun will never be like the moon, but the moon may become part of the sun… as well as everything else in this solar system…
