People are always afraid that in-breeding will lead to birth defects & deformities. The truth is, it DOES, after several GENERATIONS of in- breeding. This is because all the "bag genes" get concentrated within a limited gene pool. But, just where do you suppose those same "bad genes" came from? Imagine that one small family happened to produce a generation of offspring with some recessive mutated gene. That gene would only manifest birth defects in a child of two parents with the same gene, hence the greater likelihood of defects within the family group. But ONLY within the family group. Now, allow those same family members to breed with "outsiders", and those "bad genes" will now be spread among the entire society! By the way, just as "bad" genes can be concentrated, so can "good" genes! Genes such as those responsible for intelligence, good physical stature or strong immune systems. Sadly, however, most people fail to understand this fact, and thus they fear it. And, what's the most "logical" thing to do with something you fear? - destroy it, of course. Hence, in-breeding, and indirectly, incest, has become a universal "taboo", much to the detriment of us all.

if incest is illegal homosexuality should be illegal also. Not every child in an incestuous relationship is born with birth defects, sometimes they are perfectly healthy and sometime parents of completely separate families have children with birth defects. If its about having children, which is probably the best human experience, incest couple at least have a chance at a healthy baby while homosexual couples cannot naturally do this at all. If incest couples are worried about the health of their baby then they can go through the same channels of having children that homosexuals do, adoption, surrogate, ect. If one is legal the other should technically be legal as well. Incest being illegal because of a chance at birth defects but homosexuality is legal because they can't naturally have children is illogical for many reasons. On that argument since we cant give birth to animals bestiality should also be legal then.
