The Anime doesn’t stop after half the Manga, it followed the Manga for awhile but then it it made it´s own story when it came to the last girl.

So the Anime had it´s original ending with no relation to the Manga.

  The FF-fans want a FF game. And every single game in FF have 4 things in common. 1) Open World. 2) Several Towns with NPC and stores. 3) Random Encounters. 4) Gripping Story. FFXIII didn’t have 3 out of 4 of those. And Even the story is weaker than the other games. As a stand alone game it could work with it´s beautiful graphics, but the problem was that it was introduced as a Final Fantasy game.   FFIII was crap. The only thing it had was beautiful graphic and a ok story. But if i want to read a good story i read a book instead. When i think about Final Fantasy the first things that comes to my mind is a open world, towns, random encounters and a gripping story. FFIII stripped all that away, the story was ok at best, the graphic was truly beautiful, but that´s it, that´s the only thing the game ever had.   Back then this arc was shown from the perspective of the guy she loves. So we really didn’t see most what happened, just that she went after the killer and in the end asked Touma for help. Now it´s actually following the Railgun Manga and show us Mikoto´s side of the story.

  Well, it´s probably because the story resolves against someone who have more interaction with the younger crew. Why introduce a character that we will barely see?
