If only that was what it’s wanting to ban only. It’s way worse than that. I’m surprised SanCom hasn’t even got an article on that yet. I mean it’s Japan and it’s “stupid”. It’s pretty big news.

To summarize:
-”Intentionally” downloading uploaded illegal material is now punishable (How on earth you prove intention here?…)

-Ripping and copying for personal use isn’t an excuse anymore. Also punishable.

-Sale of software that bypass copyright protection is illegal. (I guess just downloading also illegal)

Basically this means visiting Youtube or even NND to watch, listen or read something that is copyright can land a Japanese in prison. Even if said Japanese is on holiday in US while on Youtube.

I know the Japanese are in favor of ACTA and the like, but do they really ignore the consequences of such kinds of laws?
