I, for one, am glad they're finally fixing their mistake of the horrible PC port of the game many, many years ago. Sure, it's no remake, but it's a nice gesture. It's also cheaper than buying that ridiculously broken copy used online.

Isn't it obvious based on the last few final fantasy games? Square Enix just hates money. They want to make sure as many potential customers avoid their products before even looking at them as possible. It's called marketing (Pretentious Ass Style).

The original(?) PC version had the ability to use directx, which somewhat improved the visuals over the PSX, but it was buggy as hell. Also, the FMV cutscenes where of poorer quality than the PSX. Here's to hoping they re-render all their assets and make it HD, at least.

FF8 had a horrible story and marked the fall of Square in quality. Squall is annoying and they never give a reason why Rinoa would be into him. The plot is a train wreck and the party members have 0 personality or character development.

Some of the cutscenes were a mix of movies and rendered graphics, and on my computer they were often out of sync, and some of the movies played upside-down.

I own and still play the PC version and it is a Voodoo 3DFX game that did not offer palletized 8-bit textures UNLESS you had a Voodoo card. SOOO, just offering it up as it was to modern PC users is actually a GREAT SERVICE as there are no Voodoo systems today!

OH FOR FUCKS SAKE STOP COMPLAINING, it's not supposed to be remake or a port, just an update that makes it work on modern systems so it can be sold on Steam! What do you think people do when they can't find a physical version and it's not sold digitally?? That's right, they pirate it. It's still a good game no matter how old it gets and there are people who dislike piratism and are willing to pay money for it. Also, almost every Steam game has achievements and cloud saves, they are not trying to say "we have these new features, now you must play it" they are just indicating that it supports these features. I don't see whats bad about that.

They basically fucked up the whole square part of it. Some Enix is still left somehow as the latest Dragon Quest titles are as good as always. Of course they're not great cash cows cause they're not especially made for the western mass market, so they can't make up for the company's losses with more ambitious (and more crappy, soulless) titles .

Enhancement would just make things worse since they don't know what the fans wants. Actual FF is so realistic that characters looks more like photoshopped cosplayers than an anime/cartoon characters but they don't care so much about the game itself. (NO, NO FPS FINAL FANTASY, PLEASE, DON'T!!)

I don't care. Even if they remade 7, it would suck monkey ass. Why? Easy! Because it would be made by modern day Squeenix. Those faggots are the Bioware of Japan. It's all "epic cinematic no gameplay" with them. Seriously. A company that says "Towns are too hard to create". They are dead. Just like the rest of their country. Let them all die. It's very likely they do so with the new internet restrictions coming this Fall. "Fall" really is the right word for all this dumbfuckery of Japan as of late.
