@Blaqcat – look at it like this. In the earlier days of Japan (like 100 years ago?) they had Geisha’s. The Geisha was cultivated & trained in the arts & such. Essentially you were a ‘rented’ piece of Living interactive ART.

Today the “Idol” is pop-culture version of that (to a degree). No one wanted a ‘used up’ or defiled Geisha so it makes sense that if you’re a ‘Bad Egg’ in a sea of ‘Good Eggs’ (even though this is probably an illusion about the quality of ALL ‘Eggs’) You can’t be viewed the same as with the girls who are not ‘Dishonoring’ the Geisha house of AKB48.

It’s the culture. Japan doesn’t look down on ‘Porn Idols’ (like some in USA) because a Porn Idol is what it implies – a Porn star. You can’t be a Porn Star in the Mickey Mouse Club of Japan – you are 1 or the other.
