There are bunch of Chinese cultural type of villages in China. It has nothing to do for being in China though. The standard Chinese villages are horribly looking places with bunch of half-build residential which would be perfect for post-apocalyptic movies. So, they have build bunch of the cultural villages in China just as reminder about how a typical Chinese village would look alike. And, they are also tourist attractions or expensive housings. To copy an European village is simply because that they need to build something different to make money.
