These figs are awesome why they want to ban them?

Just make a supply kit and fans can put it together anyway they want. That way the original owners are still making money off of it and fans can use a variety of choices avaiable.

It's not worth the effort.
1. Their main customers are Japanese, or living in Japan. Exporting those figurines would cost too much, since they're fragile and most foreigners aren't Otaku, or aren't even aware of the existence of the figurines.
2. Japanese rarely venture outside of .co.jp, because their Engrish is, for the most part, not good enough to keep up with the www.
3. Nobody would go through the trouble of torrenting some promotional pics. Just censor those and be done with it. If the not-so-Otaku really is interested, he'll buy the figurines to fap to, instead of staring at the censored pic. The real Otaku will buy the figurines anyways, censored pics or no.

Nah, actually what happened is he lost the domain name Makaizou and re-registered his site at Makaizo. The page loads but the frames from Makaizou are owned by a cybersquatter, which uses Javascript to take over the page.

There used to be a really good website devoted to doing this at makaizou.com -- the guy had step by step guides and everything. Now the only trace I can find is his Hatena page:

Looks like all his activity stopped in late 2009 / early 2010.

Here is his book. It's quite detailed. It turns out that modifying figurines to remove their clothing requires quite amazing skills and sculpting techniques -- I especially like the suggestion of using a sonic toothbrush but replacing the toothbrush head with a bit of sandpaper glued to where the bristles were:

I'll be picking that one up ASAP. I have the first one and it's a fairly useful guide, even if you don't do anime figurines and stick to say, Warhammer or Warmachine.
