My problem is with the idiotic Fujiko backstory. Making one of my favorite sexy anime femme fetale into a child rape victim for a weird owl cult just pisses me off, it totally ruins her strong and confident character. And the only reason Lupin III became as popular as it did was because of the original and memorable animes and films, if not for them it would've just fallen into obscurity and only remaining popular amongst die hard manga otakus...

the series has improved a lot in this past episodes. my only complaint was ep 3 which was a bit borig. but since then it has become a roller coaster of a ride.
i also like how the style evokes the work of Guido Crepax.

I do agree. However, I also believe that many long-time fans have come to expect the animated version to be more "family-friendly" if you will. Many of those people have never read the original manga and now they are left wondering why this is so very "family-unfriendly".

It's been called everything from an ecchi show to comparisons to Bebop.

Seems like people don't know what to classify it sometimes, lol.

Story is 75%, graphics is 25%. In this case, I have a friend that just can't get enough of this series and he has a flare for good stuff. And I wouldn't call the artwork here disgusting. It's inspired from the original series and looked for the sense of nostalgia. If you are a newcomer to the series, it may indeed appear strange, but just because it uses another style doesn't mean that it's disgusting. ;)
