  x86-64 CPUs do in fact emulate x86 CPUs in microcode. The two instruction sets are not binary compatible. You can’t just stick x86 code in the CPU while operating in long mode. Regardless, you are arguing against a strawman. “Emulating the system” means virtualization of the hardware, not mangling CPU instructions in software.
