  I believe this is a total compromise vs just a simple cloning attack in that the core technology has been cracked. It’s also supposedly not as advanced a system as the infamous Nagravision 3 system presently in use by Dishnetwork. Remember a committee was involved in the creation of B-CAS while Nagravision is sold by a private company.   Direct TV was but they upgraded their system since then and it’s been a game of cat and mouse. Dish network seems to be ready to roll out an upgrade right when a crack happens.

  Direct TV was cracked for a while back in the 90s but then they fixed it as far as I know Dish network has yet to be cracked. But then their stupid box seems to be always installing some sorta update and to be honest it’s very annoying.

  Apple actually does design their own chips for the iOS line. This is why they perform so well the OS and hardware are very tightly coupled. I’m not an apple fan boy but just about every other tablet generally feels somewhat clunky compared to the ipad.
