Otaku Shed Blood for Saber

Saber has been revealing that she can drain otaku of blood just as effectively as she can drain their wallets – Machi Asobi 8 saw a Saber and Fate/Zero blood donation drive, and the motivation of receiving an exclusive Saber poster saw masses of otaku queueing to give up their very life’s blood.

Scenes from the Tokushima event, which was otherwise fairly low key:

“Become a nation overflowing with love!” abjures Saber in the poster blood givers receive.

The possibilities of a similar effort involving K-ON! or AKB48 exclusives at Comiket or a major concert seem undeniable, although it is not hard to imagine what would happen were the more desperate fans allowed to donate repeatedly…

Fuck it, I'd do it. All I need to do is donate some blood? Go ahead, pffft who needs blood anyways? Lol. But, hay, otaku culture used for something useful? Sounds good to me.

This reminds me of the recent Facebook organ donation thing. I like that companies are using people's love of toys or mindless social media to actually do some good in the world.

Honestly, if they did stuff like this in America... you know? I'd do it. I've never donated blood before but I'd have a major incentive if I could get something rare like this then I would probably do it.

Actually it isn't as good as one might think. They aren't allowed to use your first donation. They must test you for various stuff etc.

They are allowed to use your second blood donation for the good of the world. So expect more of those events. And because otaku generally do not have sex, they are pretty good for blood donations. (All the stuff you get tested for is stuff one only gets from sex.)

    sigh* where do i start...
blood collected as in whole blood
later will separated it into packed red cells, platelet, plasma, or retain the whole blood, each with its different use
low hb - use packed red cell.
    low platelet - use platelet.
ongoing bleeding a lot as in surgery where platelet can't even begin to start clotting - use a lot whole blood, its live saving in critical situation. where got people didn't use it anymore?

Because using whole blood isn't mentioned on the blood service site at all. It must be a pretty rare occurrence.

My point was that even A+ donations are useful because their platelets, which are the part with the shortest shelf-life, can be used for multiple blood types.

That is because A+ people are better than other, obviously. They do donate blood. B, AB and 0 People don't do this, so they'll have a hard time if they are in need of blood. Darwin called it natural selection. Sometimes it does work.

    Comment by Anonymous

Do keep in mind however that the Red Cross gets so much A+ blood every year that over half of it gets tossed out. That's why I don't donate...I can bleed into a sink to just as much benefit.

There are people who pay living expenses by donating twice a week for I think something along the lines of 100 a week. I think first donation is 40, next is 60 or something like that. It's not much, but adds up. It would be hard to work though with that much blood loss, so I wouldn't recommend it if you have a job unless you do it with a day off after.

If I remember correctly, it is illegal for them to give you money in return for blood in the United States. I don't remember why exactly though.

Plasma donations on the other hand net you 30-80 dollars a week, but you have to go twice to get that much and they pay you a lot more the second time.

They don't even advertise blood drives in the US unless there was some disaster because people donate so much blood that you get to the place and they tell you that they don't need your blood type if it isn't something very rare..

Declining means less now than before. Total numbers are not part of the equation.

Add in the fact that there are fewer and fewer babies being born in Japan every year and, unless something changes in the near future, Japan's future starts looking pretty dismal.

Are you retarded? Do you even know what population profiling is? Did you know that Japan is one of the very few nations in the world with an inverted population pyramid? Numbers aren't the be-all and end-all of how fast a population is declining. What are you, 6?

Let me tell you something, the japanese population is rising not declining. The total population of Japan in 1875 was of around 33 million, now 142 years later in 2012, the Japan population is at 130 million. Care to do the math?

I thought you chinks were supposedly good at math, apparantly not.

The fact that they have big population doesn't overturn the fact that they have declining population. You don't seem to get the "declining" part.
Also no matter how good it seems to have their population decline because of their big numbers, unfortunately it doesn't work that way because they are getting stuck with lots of old people and very few young people.

No, but claiming that japan has a declining population while they have 130 million individuals in a tiny piece of land is retarded.

Compare that to another Island-nation such as Iceland where the population is 317 toushands.
