That’s why I think Containment was a stupid idea. I understand the fear and paranoia back then but a policy that obligates a nation to go to war is an utterly stupid idea. A typical argument from Vietnam War critics, I know. Even more so is that it wasn’t our war to fight, which I honestly don’t believe it was. At least people got to see what war was really like.
