Hackers will be a serious issue to tackle.
Killer BSOD’s will be unlikely as we’ll not just used a trimmed version of Windows 8, but specialized hard- and software.
Sensor redundancy and clear protocols will keep this to a minimum.

It’s a huge undertaking and will have many problems to be sorted out, the thing is, with computers we have much more certainty. Humans are good at creativity which is unneeded in driving and bad at precision which is needed in driving.
