I teach 4-year olds and they all have more intelligence and sensitivity than that. He probably got angry and wanted to punish his father, but didn’t know the extent of damage the gun would do in real life or that his daddy couldn’t come back to life.

Lots of kids make guns with their fingers and go around ‘shooting’ people, this child just had access to a real one and didn’t stop to think (a weakness in four-year olds of course).
