if they keep this up and follow the manga faithfull (they're done a great deal so far), it's definitely the best anime of spring.

I rather doubt that it would be the "best" anime. Actually i find it boring. I watch it because i like the military setting, but that is. Story and action scenes arent exactly all that "WOW, GREAT!". They are actually quite disappointing at times.

I wouldn't go as far as claimed it was the best myself as well but it was rather fun in some ways.
From her charming personality to her fun expressions, I really like Koko. I think Shizuka Itou is doing such an excellent job voicing her.
Yes, ignore the fact that she is totally unfit for such dark series, while we're at it, why don't we drop all of the Lucky Star cast into this series too, i mean it can't get worse than this.. This anime is so bad in it's GENRE that instead of receiving "most badass this season" it can only get a lousy "best facial expressions" Lolz
But honestly I'm just disappointed in this series, i expected this to be a sort of Black Lagoon of 2012 with a Ravy type crazy character as protagonist chick, but instead i got this husky-bipolar randomly cheerful-happy-voice chick >:(
Add into it an even worse version of Black Lagoon's "philosophical" ramblings, and you've got a series that's sliding downhill fast. It's not dark enough to pull off what Black Lagoon did, not cool enough to be Cowboy Bebop, it's missing any sort of cool plot points and MacGuffins that Canaan had, and overall it's just forgettable. Dropped like a sack of potatoes.

it is pretty good but I heard the manga failed to capture sort of detailed discussions about arms trading like that it apparently just touchs the converational and dealings but more about the action, which is a shame . Would enjoy a very high quality written dialog, but so far its been rather interesting.

It doesn't turn from comedy gag fest into super-dark, violent and depressing mid-ways if that's what you mean (I'm referring to the Sunabouzu manga btw, while the anime had the same problem it was much less extreme). As soon as it has picked up its pace, Jormungand will remain relatively constant in balancing light-hearted elements with serious and darker tones.

Koko doesn't look human; she makes me think of an alien.

No different from Mao and Tianzi from Code Geass, Azmaria from Chrono Crusade or Dilandau from Vision of Escaflowne to name a few examples.
The weird eyes thing, is just a visual gag, similar to some of the things seen in Hellsing. Just there to show that she's angry/displeased.
albino's have no pigment at all...even in the eyes. This is why they tend to have eye problems cause their iris doesn't block light to well.
She's danish I'm sure. The only group of people that can naturally have that light skin and platinum blond hair. It also matches the name of the series.

Incorrect, it all depends upon what type of Oculocutaneous albinism the subject has. No pigment in the eyes would be OCA1, but OCA2 is the most common variant, and those folks tend to have blue eyes.
Although red, pink and purple are also possible, dependent upon the melanin pigment levels in the eye, and that varies per individual.
Also the name Hekmatyar seems to be associated more with Afghanistan, note the Warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, who was one of the Mujahideen leaders during the Soviet Occupation of Afghanistan.
Although considering the name of her father and her brother, Floyd and Kasper respectively, it doesn't look like there's a direct link with Afghanistan.
Then again, neither Floyd or Koko can be considered prototypical Danish names. Kasper is a name that does occur in Denmark though.

Although it also occurs a lot in England and Poland, but there it's more of a reference to a member of the 3 Magi, with more of an old Greek connection, where it means: precious stone.
And Floyd is a Welsh name. Koko on the other hand is both an African/Ghanaian Name, as well as Japanese means as much as: Second Child.
So all in all, I'd have to say that there looks to be more of a British connection for this family.
