    @18:42 There was a much higher variety of shows released in the past two season than there are Shounen series airing. Someone already listed a few, but believe it or not, there's even more.

    And here, gentlemen, we can see a fine example of the difference between "erotic" and "dirty", "sensual" and "sleazy". The series is packed to the gills with fanservice, but doesn't wallow in it or lean on it to support a complete lack of plot or character like so much fanservice-based rubbish these days do. Episodes are full of bare tits and asses but we aren't subjected to endless, long lingering close-ups that make us feel like voyeuristic perverts, it's just THERE to be enjoyed or ignored in favour of watching the action as you like.

    Fujiko has, and always will be, anime's greatest sex symbol.

    It's a very '60s aesthetic, where you have the nudes but they aren't meant to be sleazy or fanservicey. It's just matter-of-fact, so to speak.

    -Loser Hero then somehow becomes godlike "endgame"
    -Harem

    That's only proof that today's taste is only deteriorating today's anime's quality.

    Lupin the Third is 40 years old franchise. This is not the first time the series featured nudity and sex. Ecchi anime is nothing new.

    One can be stupid and lazy and blame it on a popular genre, or you can blame the studios for constantly catering to the people who like that genre. There's a huge nuance there and it seems you don't know what it is. :/

    Clearly you never saw the original Luping the 3rd from the 70s the "Green Jacket Lupin": by master Miyazaki and rest of studio Ghibli before they became ghibli.

    In fact that's the most gruesome Lupin ever, he killed people ALOT, sex, prostitution, drugs, FUNKY ass jazz was all in the rage in that show.

    You could tell censorship didnt exist at that time.

    I kind of like this one. It's dark and gritty without being overbearingly depressing (as of yet), and you're given hints about the characters' inner pathologies.

    Yes it's got a lot of ero fanservice, but I think it's done in a good way. Personally I don't find it at all that explicit, certainly not above the level of 60's spy films and James bond movies this series pays homage to, which had their shares of boob slips and bikini babes.

    well give this origin prequel series about fujiko meet lupin, jigen, goemon, etc.

    give this is like prequel series in fujiko point of view story with i assume maybe later expect the beginning/the start of fujiko?

    besides this is her series story.

    Wow, one anime shows ~30 frames of "fanservice" and someone already jumps to the conclusion that every old anime had fanservice all over it, just like today. As expected from the SanCon crowd and their flawless logic.

    It still feels like they're cheapening our memories of good anime by introducing nudity to it's sequels/remakes, or just having it from the start, making people ignore it for not being serious enough about its story.

    Bakemonogatari kept it to a minimum, then Nisemonogatari had it in nearly every episode.

    Yes, old shows weren't ALL fanservish ALL the time, but it's true that fanservice has always been there and that many people complaining about the decadence of anime nowadays are simply wearing rose tinted glasses over their memories.

    What is happening in the new Lupin the 3rd is that it has taken the fanservice feeling of the original and updated it to current level of service.

    It's true to the spirit, not the letter of Lupin. Having said so, it is not the abundance or even the focus on service which makes or breaks a show, it's overall composition.

    Let the new series run its length before making summary judgments about it.

    It used to be that when tits were in anime, they were just sort of there. It was mostly casual, with a few exceptions, like Kekkou Kamen. Now when tits are in anime, they are the entire focus of the screen.

    The only porn I've seen in this Lupin series so far is the GUN PORN...

    Jigen using a Luger P08 and then the S&W Model 19 (best combat revolver for most of the 20th Century), Fujiko using her Browning M1910 (and the M1 Thompson SMG in the first episode), Lupin's Walther P38 and so on...

    It's nice to have a new Lupin series out. For years I've been wondering if it was going to happen. The first episode left me a little iffy because I feared it would rely on fan service to keep the viewer's interest, but after the second episode, I think it's solid. There's a bit of service, but it doesn't really cheapen the series, in fact, it brings it back to the original Monkey Punch manga days.
