Even hardcore otaku are prepared to admit that 16-year-old model Ai Hashimoto, playing Mei Misaki in the live action movie adaptation of Another, is at least the equal of the notoriously cute anime depiction of Mei, right down to her mousy looks, A cup bust and elfin frame (her official stats put her BMI at a “severely underweight” 15.1, with a height of 164cm and a weight of 40.1kg).

She was creepy in Confesssions and was a very good movie.Actual teenagers acting like real teenagers of today unlike those Hollywood-type movies where 30-something people still acting like as teenagers(i.e. Battle Royale rip-off Hunger Games).
You know what they call the Hunger Games in France?

There was an article on how the writer came up with the idea. Reality tv and Iraq news, she and her publisher didn't realize there was Battle Royale until after the first novel or so.
If you dig deeper, you will find the interview where the author admits that he knew about battle royale while writing hunger games, but said hunger games was not based off battle royale.

I never considered the anime "Mei" as cute. She's a murderer in sheep's skin.
Just because a person is anti-social, does not mean it to be a Serial Killer.
She just does not open because of her creation. But at the end of the anime, we see that with Sakakibara, she begins to sketch more emotions. Like the time her sister was alive.
It's just a way of defense, since she feels that the world hurts.
Well, I'm not psychologist or anything of that kind, but it's my opinion.

Actually, Mei is perfectly innocent in the whole matter and does appear a bit creepy in the beginning. But she's still cute.

I approve of this lady. I do. But, it's always hard to portray an anime character live-action. Always looks a bit off (for rather obvious reasons), no matter how attractive the person is. Not that I really can complain too much, she's damn good-looking. It could've been a lot worse. A lot.
