Every figure looks different because different artists sculpt them and different designers drew the source; yet every creepy ball-joint doll looks the same. All they do is change the hair and the clothes, it's still the same awkward limbs, the same big vacant eyes staring at you no matter what.

Western dolls are creepy, is what I think everybody who says "dolls are creepy" meant, and I agree. Japanese dolls are really cute and beautiful in my opinion, and even though I'm a dude, I want to own one one day. Figures are great too, but you can't do much with them customization-wise.

Something interesting to note about these photos: For the most part, figures are displayed with bland backgrounds, yet look amazing. Dolls are displayed a lot using lavish scenary and well.....

... See where I'm going with this?

Anyways, with dolls, sometimes it's not always the ball joints that turn me off. It's just that the likenesses to their 2D counterparts don't match well. This is why I think Figmas are pure win - versatile posability, compact size, and impressive likeness.

But in general, figures for the win!
