Well I think I've already seen more than 200-350 titles and still and counting...I can only make a list of the titles I am NOT proud of
25 is such a small number, heck the titles people usually complain about not being on these lists usually outnumber the number of available spots so there's always complaints on any kind of polls in SanCom
Plus how many of us here actually participate in these kinds of polls, most who think their top 10 list matter, won't even try, even when given the chance to participate...so do the math, and the only ones left to actually vote on these polls are the newer generation==people less hardcore things on their mind, that have not even heard of the older titles or would have to go through great lengths if they want to view them legally, it's actually a surprise that a fair number of older titles managed their way here
I love Macross, and while it may not appeal to newer fans as quite a few of you don't like J-pop, older Macross series are much better then some Gundam shows.

Are you certain that you read that list? Because Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex comes in at 12, with Naruto and Pokemon coming in at 22 and 23. Unless you're one of those people that cannot stand the thought of something you like not being at the top of every list when it already takes up two slots on a 25 slot list, making up a larger portion of it than any other franchise. Also, fuck you for getting butthurt over Ghost in the Shell and not Doraemon.

Give a chance to Madoka, is not what you think. It looks cute and dumb but there's one thick plot full of evil hiding behind all that cuteness.
I don't think that's the problem, the issue is that this list consist of not just 2011, but over all, and out of ALL the anime released, Madoka is only on the top because it's riding on the current fanbase/hype. If the series was released maybe 10 years ago, it probably wouldn't even be on this "top 25" list.
On that note, stop making "top" list for overall and just make it for seasonal or yearly, because these "top list of all animes of some kind ever" are always going to consist of too much recent undeserving animes only because "oh I just watched that, it's soo much more amazing than that last anime that was soo amazing too".

Neither should Oreimo, which was still a far better anime than the iceberg-paced Haganai. Barring a second season (or should the author drop a bomb, like getting Kirino pregnant or Ayase stabbing Kyousuke), people will have forgotten about both shows in two years.

Even if you dislike Naruto, you at least have to take notice that it is an international hit. Its success can be equated to the Sailor Moon series. It is not easy for an imported show to see such longevity outside of its country of origin.
And for that matter why isn't Sailor Moon on the list? It's pretty much the god of all Magical Girl anime.

as much as I loved flcl back in the day, I would be shocked to see it on a list like this so Im not sure why your suprised at its absense.
FLCL is awesome, and I'd be surprised itd be on this list because frankly the Japanese seem to have terrible memory (and questionable taste).

Also some of the animes on this list are not some Japan should be proud about. Some that are on this list are the very reason why people often view anime otakus as creeps.

Mobile Suit Gundam should be the number one on that list.
The franchise has been running for over 30 years and bandai has been really successful at milking it.
I think there should be some more anime that comes from Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha, Ranma) and Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Aria, Kaleido Star).
Because while a lot of anime has and still are a bit tweaked around the male audience as a default, some directors make a point to making female characters strong and respectable and making 'girly' anime something that is to be enjoyed by anyone while not making a mockery of male or female characters.
Not to mention the works certain directors do are a credit to the positives anime can have as a storytelling medium. To me, females playing such strong roles without being typecast or being portrayed in a pandering way is one of them.
Manly, action packed stuff definitely has their place and they should be respected too. I just like that anime as a medium isn't afraid to star a leading female under any circumstance.
Japan as a culture itself can probably learn about bettering civil rights among genders, age groups, sexuality and nationalities/race from the anime it creates.
