  Tasteless is the right word… I mean there were some jokes in the live-version that were rather hilarious considering Ranma’s gender-curse… Like for instance the vice-principal principal being a homosexual that wanted to turn all women into men, but that was the only positive thing I can say about it.   At least the cast looks kind of believable, both in “real life versions of the cartoon characters” and “ranma-kun / ranma-chan being gender swaps of the same person” terms. Though they could have used stronger hair dyes :D Doesn’t mean it’ll be well acted, plotted, shot or otherwise directed of course, but it’s a small step up from the usual “these are supposed to be the same people?!” syndrome that live action adaptions often suffer.

  It can work. They just have adhere to what Ranma truly is – A gag series. If they try to make it a “good” movie, with serious drama/romance/action – It all goes to hell.

  It occasionally works. I kind of enjoyed the Initial D movie. I think it has to be more grounded in reality than Ranma 1/2 to work though, definitely.
