@01:14 JRPG isn’t a genre though. :) It’s a lazy term that some stupid journalists came up with a few years ago in order to poke fun at games like Final Fantasy, and it stuck.

Now it’s used to stereotype 90% of the RPGS that come out of Japan. I bet you many people if asked would class Final Fantasy 10, Disgaea 3 and Tales of Vesperia all as ‘JRPGs’, but all three of them play in vastly different ways (FF is a console style RPG, Disgaea a strategy RPG and Vesperia an action RPG). That’s the main reason why the term isn’t any good as a genre label. :)
