  I hate to break it to you, but those “casual smartphone gamers” *are* the “real gamers” nowadays. It makes more economic sense to target them than it does to target an increasingly shrinking, increasingly hard to please audience of “hardcore” or “obsessive” gamers.

  As long as they don’t mess with the DQ team, I’m fine with whatever. The Dragon Quest guys haven’t screwed up at all. If they want to fix something, force Nomuria / Kitase / Toriyama to actually listen to budgets, deadlines, editorial control, et cetera. They’re directly responsible for the dire state of the Final Fantasy franchise. And give the guys who made Final Fantasy Four Heroes of Light / Bravely Default a raise while you’re at it. Good work should be rewarded.
