Bog Witch Metalica “Nippon Ichi’s Sexiest Dark Heroine Yet”

Nippon Ichi’s newly unveiled “dark fantasy action RPG” Majo to Hyakkihei (“The Witch & The Hundred Knights”) is attracting attention – through mainly due its sexy dark heroine, Bog Witch Metalica.
The plot concerns Bog Witch Metalica’s efforts to vanquish the wicked Forest Witch and swamp the world in bogs, marshes, fens and other paludal biomes, using an immortal magical summons – the “Hundred Knights,” whose role the player takes.
The most notable aspect of the game itself seems to be that veers away from traditional JRPG railroading of the player somewhat – a relatively open world with plenty of sidequests is promised, and as an amoral familiar the player can choose whether to go about things in a benign or malign manner, and be treated accordingly (or, put more bluntly, it may be “Bioware meets Disgaea”).
As for the actual game graphics – once again Nippon Ichi looks set on bringing stunning PSP level graphics to the PS3:

Japanese release is set for the spring of 2012.

Judging by some of those screenshots of actual gameplay, it might be a 3D Patapon hybrid of sorts.

Takehito Harada is a genius. The character designs look incredible.

It's Russian for God. It doesn't specify a particular kind, although it usually refers to the Christian one.
"The Witch & the Hundred Knights?" Better title: "The Hundred Knights of Metalica." I would've said "Metalica & the Hundred Knights but you don't actually play as Metalica. It also kind of implies this games is a RTS which probably wouldn't be a bad idea.
I think nippon ichi really need to re-think its situation. they need to actually start to make dl games on the whole, the games are just to niche to be massive full price sellers. wake up NI before u go bankrupt, it'd be such a shame to see a talented company go under!!! =(

The art is gorgeous. I always get drawn into Nippon Ichi's games through their art. That's how I got into Disgaea. The art is AMAZING my style. I love how they exaggerate things like that witch hat it's huge but looks awesome.
Hopefully if anything Metalica will appear as a DLC character for Disgaea 4.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I've played every NI game released here in the states and enjoyed every one of them. They have good comedy, a decent story (though disgaea 1 has yet to be beaten in that department), and tons upon tons of hours worth of extras. Knowing NI, even though the main character is small, something may happen later in the story or at the end or something that makes him into a giant powerhouse, or many a joke will be cracked about his height. As far as graphics go, its not like NI really releases graphically intensive games anyway, this seems to follow their style.

none the less its nice to see NIS doing something, but they need to rethink a few things gameplay and graphics wise. (we want to play the witch, not some prinny knight...thing)
Graphics look like PSP level and it goes on a PS3? Real gamers don't give a shit, they want quality gameplay not a goddamn movie. I for one approve of this - if the game is actually a good play.

I am absolutely fine with Gameplay > Graphics. Honestly, who has ever bought a N1 game for the graphics? You don't. You get them for the gameplay.

nippon ichi mess up with this one. you have a sexy character, but you can't use. which makes the chance of anyone buy, will be low. if i were them, i'll make Metalica the main character and that tiny thing a special ability of her's. i'm just writing that if they want to make this game hit the top 5. it should have been made this way.
