Just watch season 2... not like season 1 had much of a storyline... what you see in episode one of 2nd season is pretty much every episode season one was
I hate this show - it's so lame! Squid Girl who destroys junk and has to pay for it? I think the show about the girls being Soda Goddesses "Akikan" was less fishy.

The first season was an amusing, if shallow moeblob. You could tell the writers ran out of ideas around the fourth episode, and the series would have been served better as a OVA, but those don't make money anymore. Unless the you can't withstand the moe of Squid Girl, it will start to drag. And if that was the first season, I shudder to think at how repeatative the second will be.

oh blah blah fucking blah, blaaaaaaaaaah, Ika Musume is not a moeblob anime in the slightest. Ika Musume is a fucking shonen for one, you're probably just mad cos you have to keep your dick in your panties whilst you watch it.
One thing that sets her apart from moe blobs. She actually DOES something. And there's comedy involved, not just cute girls sitting around drinking tea instead of practicing their band like they should.

Am I the only one who finds the squid puns endearing. It might be funny at the beginning, but it gets really stupid after awhile, making her appear far more silly than she actually is. Yes, she has a “~de geso” (geso = squid tentacles) at the end of her speech, but that really shouldn’t translate to puns or random ’squid’ words in the middle of her dialogue in English. Squid-vasion? Seriously? Crunchyroll might have a ton of issues like region locks and quality, but I think one of their biggest issues is their translation quality... or lack there of. If they were able to do such a stellar job for Steins;Gate, don't see why they can't for this as well.
Not to mention, why translate Ika Musume? That's her name. It's like translating Sakura as Cherry Blossom or something.

I just watched the new Ika musume episode and of course the first words out of her mouth (according to the subbers) are "What the squid was that?" And apparently Ika-chan translates to "Squiddie". I was curious, and then i found out that the bad Mayo-chiki subs and the Ika subs were from the same horrible people. : |

Finally my little squid girl is back. now the REAL challenge is to find a subbing group that doesn't put an immense amount of shitty squid puns and name changes for Ika Musume. "What the squid" are you kidding me? Fail... Also Crunchyroll fails hard at season 1's translation for this and it doesn't seem to have learned it's lesson this time around.

Yeah I watched the FFFpeeps release because they cut out the squid jokes. Somethings just don't translate well...
This whole anime doesn't translate well at all. There'd have been a lot more articles about it if it was possible to translate or re-render all the terrific gags and puns it generates.
