Pretty good list, but needs Vision of Escaflowne.
Agreed. I was surprised Lost Universe made the list (though I love that show, unlike other Slayers fans I know).
I tried watching Lost Universe while trying to catch up on 90's shows and I'm surprised I made it through. Even by 90's standards, the budget for the thing must have been rock bottom..
It is further down the list on the actual link. Not much further, either.
Still, it belongs in the top 10...
Dragonball is 80's. It ended in the early 90's, with the craptastic GT, no wonder it's not here.
Sailor and the 7 Ballz!
So Dragonball Z is a no? How about Sailor moon X Dragonball Z Hentai?
Well to be fair yu-gi-oh is stupidly popular with the kids. Of course, it could be refering to the first yu-gi-oh anime which was dark as fuck.
I love me some Yu Gi Oh, but how did it rank so high?
agree, and agree a lot, sadly Escaflowne runs at the same time than Gundam wing and lost in audience, and wasnt very popular in japan.
It was suposed to be a 50-45 episode series, but after low ratings issues, the studio cut the show and left it with just 26 episodes.
just to add some stuff i watched and enjoyed tho not so sure anymore if each of these are from the 90s
yuyu hakusho
vision of escaflowne
monster rancher
saint tail
thunderjet
zenki
yaiba
hunter x hunter
jigoku no sensei nube (pantsu ecchi)
battle ball
mojacko lol
and alot more that i cant remember
just remembered some more:
chobits
hack (cant remember which one)
lets & go! (Tamiya car kit racing)
wolf's rain
tenchi muyo
saber marionette J
Ah my goddess
Time quest (really old one with the pot wearing shades that acts as a time machine)
BT'x
Ranma 1/1 (but i think this is from 80s)
so on... memories
I know Chobits, the .hack series and Wolf's Rain aren't from the 90's...just sayin.
Tenchi Myuo. Musekinin Kachoo Tylor. Golden Boy. Hyper Doll...and so on.
+1 internets for you!
Golden Boy deserved more attention than it received
Yes! My Childhood!
Neon Genesis Evangelion was my 2nd anime to watch, my 1st was Macross: Do you remember Love? on VHS. :|
Robotech series don't count. :(
My first animes asides Pokemans and Digimans were Card Captor Sakura, Gundam Wing (on TV), then later Utena, Eva and Hellsing which I bought myself.
90ies, IT WAS AMAZING.
TT^TT i just remembered how i am unable to play digimon battle(its an mmorpg) on my computer. All i wanted was a fricken wargreymon TT^TT
........
......
...
Sailor Moon...popped my cherry...
Fucking damn right!! 80's saw the best anime ever period.
If 90's was amazing, then 80's was OUT OF THIS WOLRD P-E-R-I-O-D !
My first anime was M.D. Geist at my buddy's house. I know it's not 90s anime, but I felt like reminiscing too, damn it!
Ive seen RG Veda. Is very good.
Sailor moon, Samurai Pizza Cats, and Outlanders on VHS from a local comic book shop. Had to watch Outlanders because my dad was collecting the Manga
Anybody ever see RG Veda? Blew my mind when i realized it was done by CLAMP.
Good to see Slayers in the list
Robotech is more 80's than 90's , as you see in the nineties it was macross 7.
Harmony Gold, is to blame for jacking up the Macross/Robotech copy right issue.
Regardless of those issues, Robotech was fun none the less!
^_^
For all its hate, Robotech was soooo much better then stuff like Dragon Ball Z when it was airing on cartoon network when I was in elementary school.
Still have the preference for that matter..
wasn't robotech a mash-up of Macross and space battleship yamato? either way i still enjoy the hell out of it.
A rather surprising amount of our old childhood shows were anime. I was surprised when I looked up "The Little Koala" the other day, and found that sneaky Nickelodeon had been giving me a japanese show. XD
As for this list: I find it humorously ironic that there aren't any "pantsu" - no, fuck it, any PANTY shows on it. (refuse to use a word that takes two extra letters to indicate the same fucking word =P) And when we examine the average age and character designs, the majority tended to be sixteen and up, and looked it. ...So maybe there's more truth than we'd like, to accusations of the industry heading into the "covert animated child porn" area. =\
2 words. Skull Leader.
Robotech is Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada. Star Blazers is Yamato.
Southern Cross actually made better by being in Robotech, and Mospeada was remarkably untouched (compared to the other two, as well as how it left things like the crossdressing in). Much of what was done to Macross doesn't make any sense... but the strength of the original still carries through despite that.
they aired Robotech as re-runs in the 90s, I didn't know at the time.
Robotech is Macross mashed up with some other series and translated into English. It was a mess but it was the first glorious glimpse of anime for many of us and we loved it. :)
You do realize that Robotech and Macross is not the same, right?
In that they have nothing to do with each other.
i think macross is in the 80s xD
my 1st anime btw is astro boy :D
Macross/Robotech was 80's anime, so no they don't count, don't know about Macross 7 though
Soldier of worlds, from deep space
Macross!!
IT'S TIME TO D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DUEL!!!!!
Card Captor Sakura... my first loli anime, and my first crush back when I was a very young otaku...
You forgot Golden Boy ^_^
but then again who was mature enough at that time :p
Right! T_T i miss those sweet days
Decade i became young again!
I think Ive seen 90% of these shows. All my classic favourites are there!
Helll yeah! this list rocks, truly great anime, a lot of my favorite series are on this list.
Cardcaptor! You're alive!
for the first time, i agree 100% with this list
I <3 the rerouni kenshin english opening 1.
Finally a list where I've seen everyone listed.
Love that list.
Word...
no dragon ball z, no list.
this list is invalid and should be burned immediately.
he probably forgot about that since they're still airing DBZ up to now...
But DBZ was from the '80s...
DBZ aired from 1989 to 1996. It's from the 90's.
The fuck?! Nadia, The Secret of Blue Water is from the end of the 80th, period!
