    Females judge other females by their accessories, as competition.
    Males judge females by their health, as suitable mates.

    The real test would be in seeing how females judge males or males judge other males.

    I think it's simple.

    Males don't seem to look at eachother quite as openly as women to me. Because of that prevalent fear of 'looking gay'.

    With girls, I think the arrow actually points to EVERYWHERE. Girls don't look at butts? Yeah right. Everything is up for a glare with girls. Because nobody gives a damn if we 'look gay' doing so.

    Regarding male to female glances, I might agree with the diagram.

    I think it's more than just fear of "looking gay".

    I'd argue most males are attracted only to feminine (i.e. neotenous) features, and not masculine traits.

    So while attraction to young teenagers/boys has in some periods been common and socially acceptable, attraction to adult males has always been a small minority.

    As for the male on male veiw
    it would go face then the chest and arms as we will be checking how fit they are it will all be quick glances though "Because of that prevalent fear of 'looking gay'" which i think is kinda stupid and annoying. The problem is the focuses of the genders while women care more about beauty men are more concerned with strength and masculinity because homosexuality in men is represented with femininity it becomes rejected immediately, while homosexuality in girls can be represented anyway and the acts of it only attract males

    I don't care about other guys. The only time I notice another guy is if he looks out of place. That's it.

    And yeah, it's irritating that women try to dress up and wear makeup for each other. Some women I notice precisely because they've made themselves into freak shows.

    A girl wearing normal non skin revealing clothes can easily look very sexy.

    Guys take notice about the looks of other guys only when is weird or cool.Its not about "looking gay", They just don't really care how other guys looks.

    I dunno but as a female who care about her looks first when judging males on looks I think a good hair style is important and good fashion sense. Fashion can make a below average guy look handsome.
    I hate the fact that here( in aus) 80% of guys where i live dress badly or plain its so stupid that guys thing that just by caring about what they makes them gay. I really don't get why guys here thinkg being 'gay' is all about how u act and look. I swear sometimes they forget its sexual preference. Trust me a girl will always choose the guy that looks like he put thought into how they look rather then just wearing random stuff.

    Girls judge other girls by their looks, and what they wear.

    Guys on the other hand cares not too much about appearance about other guys but rather their social status. You know, things like if they are rich or not.

    Lol? Your average girl judges people a LOT more based on their apparent social status than a guy does. The lol goes for the rest of your post as well.

    Guys judge other guys based on a lot of random factors depending on what they, individually, appreciate or belittle----mais naturellement, you might say, and I agree. But while some guys appreciate wealth, others appreciate looks and most guys DO evaluate people based on their clothes, whether consciously or not.

    thats only if you arre trapped in vanity, in some cases the "lower" male has a modest house, modest looks and still gains much more money than the "upper class" male.

    The 9s and 10s are indeed way too used to be choosers and most women want to be that way. Ironically, the only guys that have real possibilities of getting 10s are the choosers, the cool alphas that have gotten their way with so many women they've begun to appreciate things other than sex and looks (silly world they live in, I know). If you want to get laid, think as if you were a chooser. It helps.

    Frankly, I'm surprised at how many stereotypical "frustrated young lads" we've got here. They think in the EXACT way that generally stops people from getting laid - with hotties, that is. There always exists the possibility of hooking up with a 6 or 7 ("ok" to "somewhat pretty") if you're not ugly, but I wouldn't count on that.

    I think hair and shoes may be for other girls to get jealous about.

    The 'zettai ryouiki' aka the area between the skirt and the stocking aka the exposed thighs and clothes that shapes the body, the small tease of bust. That may be more for the guys.

    No, hell. EVERYTHING about a girl's fashion is to fight off other girls. XD

    I can't afford to spend that much on any fashion item which is usually outdated in 3 months.It's more of a challenge and a lot more fun to do it on a budget. Besides I rather spend the money for manga and anime!

    Exactly, I spent 170 bucks on nike air max 2009's a year and a half ago, good comfort, but the wear and tear they went through just didn't scream "worth the money" to me. (I work in a pharmacy where I Dont do ANYTHING resembling excessive wear and tear)

    Took them back, guy was sympathetic and agreed the wear and tear on them was a bit much, opted to exchange them for me for the 2010 version of the Air Max. Horrible discomfort and the cost of looking amazing. Tried taking those back, no dice, im out 170 bucks and got my hands on one of the most pieces of shit shoes ever made by Nike. The Airmax line is full of shit >.<

    I agree on the purse and stuff. No need to spend too much on accessories, shoes, hat etc.

    But especially when it comes to shirts, pants and skirts, the quality (and subsequently the price) can make a big difference. This seems to hold especially true for hot ass jeans.

    i didnt even notice the purse at all. i just know that shirts, pants, purses and shoes all cost a fuck ton if you go designer.

    i mean, there is merit in a 100$ shirt, dont get me wrong, a HIGH as thread count feels amazing, but some of this shit is a tshirt print made by a name.

    but shoes, the expensive one are never the ones that also feel nice.

    and a purse it to carry shit, get one that looks good and isn't a clutter nightmare, and there you go.

    typically i ware loose socks, tennis shoes, sily like shorts, and a t shirt that is so thin its like im wearing nothing at all

    if i want to look good, i put on jeans white socks, same tennis shoes and a tshirt that doesn't have a print on it and is a higher thread count.

    if a woman can do that, have a dont give a fuck, i want complete comfort, and a i want to look like i dont exclusively shop at walmart look, that is shiny as hell to me.

    Naww man, women are obsessed with their hair and shoes and makeup to prove to OTHER WOMEN that they're "just as good." They convince themselves it's for men, but it isn't-- since most women know that the male gaze is in fact directed towards boobs/butt/legs/etc, they're outright deluding themselves if they say that a $600 pair of boots is for anyone other than other ladies.

    I just laugh ojou-sama style while men ignore said women's $600 boots and focus on my genetics-given boobs. : D

    I disagree. Maybe it's because I'm an artist, but I simply LOVE female fashion, even though I'm a guy. I like to stare toward the ground in order to see where I'm going and also check what each passerby is wearing on their feet before I look up at their socks, skirt, top, hair, and face. I'm far from gay, but I don't care as much about their cleavage or anything. Instead, I take mental notes in my head, so when I'm sitting at my desk, designing characters and their wardrobe, I can use what I've seen as inspiration.

    That said, most girls I see walking around have such an awkward fashion sense to me. I think that if a girl can spend the least amount of money on fashion and still look cute, then its a success. Girls don't NEED expensive high-heel boots with jewelry embedded on them. Sometimes, simple rubber boots with a nice buckle or two will serve the same purpose, if not do better. And who needs all that makeup? Even if you don't like your natural skin or color, you don't need to coat your face with makeup all the time. Light/No makeup is good makeup. :)

    Not everybody buys in the plastic doll look. Don't assume it's a lie just because you perceive things differently. It's fine if you like makeup, but that doesn't mean that no man on earth would prefer a natural look.

    Depends on the woman in question. To me, looking like makeup is looking fake, and is a turnoff. I find the most attractive women I've met aren't trying to attract guys and doll themselves up, but rather dress for work. This may involve some makeup, but it's never noticeable.

    everything in proportion. A 40+ woman may need makeup that resembles facepaint, but a 18yr old does not. Saw a chick that was 20 tops and i could see cracks in the makeup where it was drying out! Older you are the more you need, simple as that.
