Err, all I can say that one of the few things in Kirino that really turns me on is her otakuism and unusual perversion towards her little sister complexion. Of course, otaku heroines are not really that uncommon again these days but most of them tend to be either the cosplayer type (Konata), the yaoi/yuri fujoshi type (Nogizaka Haruka) or basically the wide-ranged ones (Konata, again) yet I never/seldomly see one that has an extreme lust on 2D sisters despite being a girl and a little sister herself. It's true that I'm 99% annoyed in that episode where she gets to have her own anime but I quickly reverted back to liking her when she played that new eroge she bought and went to heaven after unlocking the tsundere sister's dere path. I dunno but I'm just wonderfully amused to see her acting like Angry German Kid/Keyboard crusher and getting so emotional over a game character on her LCD screen. Oh, and let's not forget that paedophile tongue she had in that same episode.
Other than that, I can somehow sympathize her for dreading the fact that she somehow would ended up enjoying her stuff all by herself and no one to share with knowing that her hobby is what the commoners always frown on.
Oh well, this comes from a perverted collector dude so it's obvious to see this kind of comment coming.
Anyway, I still prefer Kuroneko over her.

Tsundere, that's basically it. Kuroneko, who has a rabid fandom here but by all accounts isn't as popular as Kirino overall, is also a tsundere, but not quite as uh, violent about it. Tsundere is a popular archetype for a lot of reasons, but the biggest one is probably that they're ridiculously adorable when they slip into deredere mode, but the anime did a poor job of showing off the dere moments that the manga and light novel did. In particular, the best dere moment came in episode 11 after she spent the first half being an unforgiveably huge bitch--not the best way to go about these things.
The problem with the "perfect yamato nadeshiko" girl is that they make very boring characters, take Manami from the same series for instance--ridiculously sweet girl, and in real life probably a great catch, but as a character she's dull as dirt. Ui's also a bit dull, I'd take Yui (or more relevantly, Mikan) over her any time.
