Yeah, people have to realise that Japan has no real unemployment compensation. And because it doesn’t have that, it also doesn’t have as effective government programs to help people back on their feet. And they don’t check on pensions properly either.
If one lives in Europe it’s easy to say ‘Yuck! I would never to such a horrible thing!’ but that’s only because of lack of familiarity with the local situation in Japan.

  Oh wait, that’s the wrong number. 5000 is approximately how many dead pensioners were already discovered. Greece has about 9000 centenarians (officially) which would make 80% a very conservative estimate, in my opinion.
