Mio House Model Quite Something

Detailed architectural plans of the various houses featured in K-ON! are nothing new, but for one fan only a meticulous 1:100 model of the Akiyama residence would do.
It remains to be seen whether someone will actually take this to its logical extreme and build one of these houses – it does not seem outside the realm of possibility considering what else otaku will buy on the basis of blind devotion.

Just perfect for the old train set.
damn! if he'd auctioned it, he'd be freaking rich!
I wonder if a Mio figure would fit in the door...
Hmm... 1:100 scale is little off from usual train model scales...but you can place it to background on a HO or O scale layout.
I was myself to train modelling in early 90`s, but i did choose too big prototype, American steam and early diesels. Layout grew way too big.
Now i would build a N scale Japanese modern electrified prototype layout system, with scratchbuilt structures, including all K-On! girl`s houses!
Yay now I can stalk Mio whiles in my own room.
It has to be at least twice as big for Mio to fit in ¬_¬
What is this? A centre for ants!?
Gokicha-chan could live there...
Looks too small for Nendo Mio to fit in ;_;
Thanks, you got the Zoolander reference ;)
Slow news week?
dude i would like to see you do something like...fucking looser
more like at least 2000 as big since Mio is so fat.
Don't they realize there could be an actual market for these kind of models? They'd probably be much more expensive than the character models.
For hardcore fan its blasphemy to commercialize these holy objects I think :P
I wanna see someone take on the challenge to make Mugi's family's villa model.
And that Summer House they have at Lake Saimaa in Finland.
He's good!
Working as a Buildings/Interior 3D Modeler, this actual model actually dropped my jaw on my working desk...
Next do Yui's house with the little shrine next to it. Would buy!
Poor tree in that little bucket.
You can get into college in the state with that skill.
awesome model :P
Can you take off the roof or remove the 2nd floor to see the 1st floor? If not, still cool anyway. I wonder if anyone has tried to make one out of Lego?
This guy would have a chance on the house design business with a little support, assuming it is on demand (I don't live in Japan.)
What, no 1/100 scale Fiat Panda in the driveway?
This'd go nicely with some Gundams!
hell ya!!!
When I saw the first picture, I thought it was CG, but then I saw the others. The attention to detail is pretty impressive.
Model railroaders do this sort of thing all the time. He has done very, very nice job on it though.
My 1/150 Japanese railroad is going to have a bunch of various anime locations on it...
Regardless of what motivated them, whoever this person is who made this would have a great future ahead of them in architecture. Good for them!
Now this is art.
I don't know who did this but I think I'm in love.
Clearly, this guy makes his living out of this. Pure blind devotion can't possibly be enough to make something this meticulously good.
He should have made one in scale with Figma.
It may not be so extreme to build it, rather perhaps it is already built.
The probability that a house that has the identical external dimensions, already in existance some where in Japan is very high. There are a lot of custom built private residences in real life, and the artists that rendered it in the anime probably saw it some where and liked it so much that he/she put it in that scene.
On another note, the otaku that made this model only forgot one thing - the family car that was parked in the driveway.
^_^
ps
actually, come to think of it, I've seen a similar house like it in Hawaii, specifically in the Hawaii Kai neighborhood in East Oahu. There are lots of Japanese tourists that visit Hawaii its possible that the artist that portrayed it may have stayed in that very house when visiting Hawaii.
i would love those corner windows in my room. how come they dont make em here like that in US? bummer
that's awesome :D
it's bad, that none of any 1:72 soldier figures will fit in XD
Lol I thought about a new business...
1:100 scale anime figures XD 1.5-1.8cm XD
----------------------------------------------
the space between these lines are apx. 1.5 cm
----------------------------------------------
Blood and sweat must have been poured into that thing.
Impressive. How's the inside?
That is very well designed, the second pic makes it look like you can walk right in, shit even the plants look real and that patio nnggg I want Haruhi's house wait a minute I don't think I ever seen her house O_o ARGH *explodes*
its impressive, but i definitely not going to buy it..
"it does not seem outside the realm of possibility considering what else otaku will buy on the basis of blind devotion" you say? Well you guessed right, I WANT THAT HOUSE!
houses like this in japan is actually rare
Aren't there many like this in suburban areas? I recall seeing lots in this genre in Saitama and the likes.
well it's a pretty rich house but it's all but rare to me ...
Im going to make a house like that someday, anon will deliver pics!
Wait I want the house Build it
And Someone Will Buy it
If it doesn't fade out by the time it is built XD
(Still waiting for Kon House)
The house of Satirical Comments
Cough Kon ^_^
How did they find out the exact measures? I'm astonished.
Most likely the K-on Official Guidebook has a page showing the actual plan of the house. A lot of Official Guidebooks either for anime, movies or videogames have those stuff in them.
Two possibilities:
1. Watch/pause the scenes where you see her house. The 2D image is already on proportional scale of its own. The rest can be imagined.
2. A house that looks like this actually exist. Went and got measurements there.
Most likely the first case. Doesn't seem so hard.
In any case, would there be a house build like this, I love it just because it's a decent looking house. Don't need to be a K-ON fan to appreciate architecture, wherever the source. :D
