Anime in general doesn’t feature Japanese-looking characters, and The Last Airbender wasn’t a particularly Asian story as much as it was a universal one. If you’ve been there and not just stayed in Tokyo, you’re bound to get a fairly good grasp of that but it’s a receding culture in all fairness.
