A 23-year-old teacher has been fired for repeatedly having sex with one of her pupils at school, apparently after he ruined things by bragging about it to classmates who then jealously made a fuss.
The 23-year-old teacher was on temporary assignment to a Saitama prefectural high school, where according to local educational authorities she became intimately acquainted with a second year student.
The pair began exchanging mails and soon matters progressed, with the couple engaging in sexual activities at a school recreation room on at least two occasions.
However, their relationship became the subject of classroom raillery after the boy told his friends, and the teacher found herself forced to explain matters to the headteacher.
As punishment, she was subject to disciplinary dismissal, but faces no charges.
The incident may actually be a welcome example of a proportional response to improper conduct by a teacher (especially compared to the decades long prison sentences and permanent sex offender persecution seen in the US), although it rather underlines the dangers of having sex with male minors, who seemingly face an irresistible urge to brag about their conquest of an older woman to all and sundry.
However, in light of the fact Japanese teachers can apparently keep their jobs even after sexually assaulting pupils, it is perhaps equally an indication of the near untouchability of civil servants in Japan.

If this 23-year old teacher were a male, he'd be labeled a pedophile, put on the sex offender's list, and thrown in jail for about 15 years. The media would demonize him to be some predator that coerced "children" to have sex with him.
The female student would start "crying" about how she was forced to do it with him. Some shit about him blackmailing her, etc. and you know the rest of the story. People start sympathizing with the girl and want to kill the teacher.

What you say is certainly true for any "normal" male in Japan, but teachers are special. I dare you to show me even one case where a Japanese teacher was being convicted of sexually assaulting one of their students, and there's no shortage of such incidents either. (I'm sure a handful of convictions must have happened in the past decades, but they're so rare I didn't manage to find one even though I was actively looking for it). This goes for both male and female teachers of course, but male teachers normally don't even get fired.
Oh and btw, Japan doesn't have a sex offenders list (not that this is a bad thing).
This kid would be about 17 and within the age of consent so being a sex offender wouldn't be the issue but rather breaking the teacher-student boundary. Dismissal and the unlikelihood of working any further within any educational facility is standard.
Still I believe a number of posters here were referring to the fact that a large number of male teachers have gotten away with some very dodgy things. There's a good few articles here on sankaku if you search about.
