A lot of it is how the colors interact yes, but it’s more of how they interact in a dreamlike fashion. The characters almost appear self-illuminated, like they’re more celestial than the world they inhabit, and to a degree I believe that’s intentional. They don’t have lighting as their friend when it comes to cell shading usually. Lighting becomes rather difficult to integrate when it’s limited like that, so this is apparently sort of a simultaneous solution to making the characters that much more ‘dreamy’ and making it unnecessary to worry about shadows too much.

I’m sure some scenes will work better than others. It’s basically like they’re in perpetual sunlight. When they’re not in sunlight, it’ll probably look a bit odd.

All I know is Rorona was just an all-around extremely enjoyable experience, and I was never distracted by the art. All I hope is Totori gets here soon, and this soon to follow.
