It does look like a zaku cross gundam. maybe that's what they look like is a gundam ever made a baby with a zaku o.o
To me it looks more like a gundam cross Sumo type.

The art looks nothing like a statue. The statue's proportions make it look like a cheap toy. They should made it more "manly"

I like it, not all Chinese inventions are bad. It's good it was accepted by Japanese people. It would be cool if nations could fight out their disputes with Gundams rather than wars. I'd join the army just to pilot one no caring whoever is the president. I got bragging rights and lived like my idols from the Gundam series.
It's more that the attitude of these Japanese artists are so forgiving instead of criticizing all the way. I thought it was a nice gesture from the Japanese artists.
As for Chinese inventions from their classic periods, some were great and perhaps no one have ever heard of them. Try to google for them, the lists are pretty long.
