Wha way to fail at engineering and get your priorities screwed up Sony.
I mean really I thought only Apple could fuck up so badly.

They could of umm used a power controller with it’s own uC thus eliminating batteries as a hack but lets face it anything can and will be cracked.
So now pirates will need to OMG use a screw driver.

Really Sony doesn’t seem to get it that you need to strike a balance between preventing piracy and making a good user experience.
If your treat the honest users like criminals and fuck them over and they’ll leave in droves.

  My phone has a replaceable battery and a touch screen. It’s to be cheap but yes it means in a year you better get the screw driver out as you’ll have to open it up. It’s not that hard to replace I done iphones several times but still it’s being cheap.

  The Pandora battery was possible because Sony put DRM in the battery in an attempt to lock out third party batteries. This was a case of Sony’s paranoia biting them in the ass.

  No the head idiots at Sony ruin it. Really the hardware and media braches of Sony need to split because the media mindset is killing Sony hardware. BTW the battery exploit only was possible because the engineer who designed that part implemented it in a dumb manner in an attempt to lock the PSP to Sony batteries. Putting the battery inside will not do a thing except piss off your primary customers.

  You end up having to open it up while following a repair FAQ on ifix use odd bits to remove screws that were designed by a dyslexic monkey just like an iphone.

  Jaguar is more or less a die shrink of Bobcat which was made to compete with Atom and the VIA Nano. Still it should be a step up from the PS3 because of GPGPU features in the graphics chip. Though if they wanted low power they might as well went with several arm cores.

  8 AMD e series cores it’s a glorified netbook chip. The performance should be equivalent to a quad core chip from 2008. As for the GPU being equivalent to a 7850 I doubt it as the memory bandwidth must be shared with the CPU.

  Ram will likely price it in to the $600 range. The main CPU though X86 is not much easier then Cell. It’s 8 Botcat core pretty much equivalent to the Intel Atom. Getting speed out of it might even be trickier since it’s single thread performance should be about 1/3 to 1/2 that of the PPE in Cell. Anything complex will have to be very multi threaded for speed this even includes video codecs that are not very GPU bound. In short it’s a lazy and cheap design that probably cost them next to nothing …
