The exploration of Japan’s forgotten places continues below, with the intrepid urban explorer from the previous gallery returning to share more of his expeditions.
“If Battleship Isle is the king of derelicts, this is the queen – Hyogo prefecture’s Maya Hotel:”
“A Gifu motel – Hotel Chiri. It’s in good condition considering it is right along a national highway. Some rather nice tiles on display in the bathrooms. My favourite abandoned love hotel.”
“A Gifu paper mill. It shut down in 2006. Plants are a popular genre of urban exploration.”
“A Kanagawa bowling alley. It was left derelict for a long time due to asbestos problems. Recently the plot was bought by a supermarket. I expect it has been torn down already.”
An interlude gathering up material provided by other thread participants:
A disused station:
Fukuoka:
Unspecified:
And back to the main explorer:
“A Kanagawa rest home. Once a first class corporate facility, now abandoned. It had a lot of leisure facilities.”
“A request – the building of a securities firm which went bankrupt 10 years ago, in Yamanashi prefecture. Its mysterious vault room is quite famous…”
“How about an abandoned tunnel? It’s an abandoned railway tunnel in western Kanagawa. You have to wade through endless bushes to get to it.”
“A Kanagawa hospital, dark even at noon. Seems to have been used for rehabilitation.”
“This is what is known in Kanagawa as ‘block art.’ It’s in some odd jail-like building:”
“A Kanagawa ryokan which time left behind.”

Why nobody bothers to loot those places?
clearly some already have been, if you pay attention there are some really cool places that don't look old at all, yet their insides are completely destroyed, if you abandon a place, dust gets everywhere a lot of things might get broken like windows but these places are completely wrecked
Would loot those porn drapes myself, that's for sure.
Seriously. A few of those places has some valuable stuff, in great condition.
man I wish I had money to travel to Japan I would so love to explore these derelicts and be all Indiana Jones with myself lol :3
Also because Japanese people are more afraid of evil/disturbed ghosts. I could give more explanation, but i'm too lazy to do so.
No shit right? I would just be super nosey and read though all the papers.:3 I'm totally digging some of the old furniture that is still salvageable. I lover rustic looking things.
Because They are not European or American scum like us. (And OMFG it's free stuff. I would loot everything.) ^_^
Are you serious I would yoink that snooker table and whack-a-mole without hesitation. But as for the gallery on a whole, it's so sad to see such beautiful places neglected. If I goto Japan, these are the types of places that need to be visited, areas like this remind me of old animes like onegai teacher in terms of location.
Some of the medical equipment can be worth 10s of thousands of dollars.
if you could find a buyer for such outdated equipment. not to mention how much such equipment weighs and how much effort it would be to restore.
More like because they're "forgotten places", that are difficult to get to in many cases.
From this and the previous gallery, there aren't that many pictures with items that would be valuable enough to justify the effort.
@11:23
Being abandon also gives it a type of beauty that is rarely seen.
I really like the whole ruins/abandon buildings covered in plants theme.
As for looting... I could probably find a few people who would pay quite a bit of money for the old cars in pic 95 of http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2011/01/08/abandoned-places-of-japan/ (if i could get them back to the US that is) and the medical equipment in pic 02, but yeah... It's mostly a waste of effort and takes away from the abandon theme.
Because they're too smart to carry ALL THOSE BOWLING BALLS.
that bowling alley seems familair ,
Snyone notice its similarities to the one in Shaman King ? Ryu's Besto Place
Babybluez287
Actually it probably has more to do with Japan's obsession of owning only the latest junk. Plus limited transportation & space makes robbing places like those blind rather difficult.
I hope there's nothing radioactive there in the medical devices, in 1985, scrap dealers in Brazil salvaged some radioactive caesium from a chemotherapy machine and not only poisoned themselves but their entire neighborhood...
Also, remember, the guy asked permission to view many of those places...
In my hometown there was an abandoned medical building they used to store computer equipment and I KNOW they wanted it stolen... The building had no fucking locks and the doors were open. They probably didn't want to have to dispose of them, but still, why they didn't donate/sell them saddens me.
LOL. You logic-owned him.
Most of this places looks not too old and unhabitable. Just some dust, minor furniture damage and plater cracks here and there. There are many places all around the world where people actually live in much worse conditions and buildings that almost crumble under their feet.
who would want a pool table with no pockets?
Third world countries. They'd pay for them.
Heck. In the hospital where I work, they use that equipment.
Dammit.
I'd take the bowling balls, and sell them to new bowling alleys. Bowling Balls can never get out-dated.
its vintage medical equipment, among other things.
none of it will be used, its there to look interesting. and with restoring it, that would actually make it lose its value. you dust it off, and sell it. granted you aren't getting 10k for something that isn't pristine no touch up work would ever need to be done at all, but you get it.
even old medical texts, if leather bound, could be worth a few grand even if the info is HIGHLY dated.
Looks like the new location for the next Fatal Frame.
Asia might have too much ghost stories about picking up unclean stuff home XD
I once put a whole cat up my ass!!!!
That's amazing.
Let the 2 douch from American Pickers have a go at these.
It's Ghastly & Haunted~ I don't want to be in there~
Yeahhh... I'm in it for the Gengars and not for Ghastly & Haunter.
Wants to go looting lol japan pile of old books left to age
I wish someone would run around those places with kinect so that we would have an 3d view of those wonderful buildings...
If the places went bankrupt, surely the creditors would have hired a liquidator to sell all the assets including furniture and fixtures?
It would probably have cost more to sell and transport the assets than the actual worth of these items.
I agree.
I'm amazed no-one has helped themselves to that arcade machine or pool table...
Where would they put it? It would seem Japanese people dont have big enough houses to use a Kinect let alone a pooltable(It in itself may not be big but of course you need walking space and enough room to make sure you dont smash a pool cue through.
I believe people living outside the heavily populated ares have a bit more space, this seems to be where most of these places are located too. Or you could sell it to some bar or pool hall haha.
I agree; first thing I thought was "I fucking POOL TABLE??" I need to get to Japan just for its junk!
Sekiutsu Maria Tarou, anyone?
What about that huge skeleton in that other abandoned places one? That is way more shocking to not loot than a pool table.
What about that safe? And the medical equipment?? That has to be worth millions of dollars!! Even if they don't work I'm sure someone is willing to pay a lot for parts!
I don't remember stating that I was somehow rating degrees of shockingness here... It's all great stuff, very interesting.
dont go to them places, a Grudge lives in every one of them abandoned places
In Japan they throw away many (precious) goodies just like that in pics, aren't they ?
Or perhaps, those places are haunted ?
Holy shit! Pictures #2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 is where they based the Hotel level in "Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon"!!!

The resemblance is uncanny!
Nice Hanuda village, a good choice for a jap horror movie.
Cool, i want to visit some of those places and snap some photos.
But I don't think 2ch would want photos to be taken by "very fucking invader"...
Lol. That meme will be around for awhile xD
@Megidola more like 2ch doesn't want "fuckign fat Yankee" snapping photos.
fuck 2ch! I don't recall needing their permission to explore these places?
haters be hatin' and trolls be trollin' :3
so... what happened after the zombie outbreak's over?
