Holographic princess Hatsune Miku’s recent spate of mass media appearances still has not entirely abated – her most recent appearance even sees her seiyuu interviewed by Brazilian TV.
A digest of some of her more notably appearances follows, with thanks to the many kind souls who submitted the news of their nation’s passage into the desmesne of the world’s foremost if not only holographic princess.
On Brazilian TV (again) – but this time with Miku voice model Saki Fujita appearing as well:
On the cover of a Mexican rag:
On Italian TV (and elsewhere) as “L’ultima pop star giapponese è virtuale”:
Australian free rag – “but Japan’s newest and biggest pop star differs from most of her peers in one crucial aspect – she is a hologram”:
Czech news – “Japonská popová hvězda je 3D hologram školačky!”
Half a dozen Greek news sources covered the advent of Χατσούνε Μίκου as well.
Attack of the Show – now Attack of the Miku.
Sweden takes a break from its customary misandry to cover Miku, as do its Scandinavian brothers Denmark and Finland.
Even the Hong Kong press takes a break from publishing conspiracy theories to acknowledge the might of 初音未來:
Either the world’s mass media are right and Miku really is a hologram and not something more difficult for an English literature major (or its local equivalent) to understand, such as a “virtual idol,” or 100% of these publications are endlessly recycling the same fluff piece without bothering to check… surely not?
Hello
I am the son of a Japanese mother and Brazilian father.
I come here often spend my vacation in Brazil at the home of my grandparents, and am sad when you criticize Brazil.
Despite being a poor and with many financial Notice Conditions bad, is a very joyful and solidary people have many friends here in Brazil, and contrary to what you say you are “pests” Most of them play games online by the fact that cyber cafes are very common and very busy in this country, of course, many of them are minors, and children so I always like meeting new friends here at Sankaku Complex, but was disappointed to learn that many here still have racist feelings, all persons of world are equally good or bad it is. Rethink a little before you criticize anyone from anywhere on the planet, as you everyone has heart and soul.
Very sad about things that I read that comment now!
Baka’s
I’m a Otaku Girl from Brazil .
I know that Brazil is shit.
But do not judge people.
For many here have far more fanatical than you guys
from U.S.A
@Otaku Girl from Brazil: You know Brazil is a shit, isn’t it? Brazil is a beautiful country with a miseducated people. It’s the reason brazilians think Brazil is a shit. It’s the reason foreigners think the same about Brazil. I’m counting on Dilma Rousseff to educate our people.
Where do you live in Brazil? There are excellent cities to live here. It may not be your case, Otaku Girl from Brazil.
Every country has educated and miseducated people. People everywhere are the same thing: They only change their addresses and native languages. Miseducated brazilians like those who left Brazil to live on the USA help build the worst image of the brazilian.
Miku’s World Domination is coming closer 🙂
is she real?????
Miku will conquer the world
She will ensure complete global saturation
at least Britain hasn’t sucumbed… oh wait
The bitch is just lip-syncing! I want my money back!
I thought SC said Attack of the Show got canceled?
I come to hate reality more and more….!
GO MIKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Yea yea “World is Mine”, but other than Miku I would like the world to know of all the Vocaloids..
oh damn my country is developing in such a beatiful way!!!!
oh and “Fantastico” in one of the most watched TV shows here in Brazil.
sorry for the typo after “Fantastico” I meant is not in.
HI,I’M FROM RIO DE JANEIRO,BRAZIL…MIKU HATSUNE IT’S A GREAT VIRTUAL IDOL;AND ANYMORE COMMENTS ARE TOTALLY DISPENSES!!O Q’EU QUERO DIZER É QUE NÃO HÁ NECESSIDADES DE GRANDES COMENTÁRIOS SOBRE O ÓBIVIO…MESMO NOS PAÍSES SEM FLUÊNCIA DE JAPONÊS;OU DE SEU PROGRAMA DE ORIGEM,”VOCALOID”;MIKU HATSUNE CATIVA C/SUA VOZ,MUSICAS FEITAS COMO SE CADA COMPOSITOR SEU FOSSE ELA PRÓPRIA,E SEU “DESIGN”CARISMÁTICO…(SORRY,I’M NOT FLUENT IN ENGLISH)DEIXO AQUI MEU COMENTÁRIO EM PORTUGUES PARA MOSTRAR QUE NO BRASIL,TAMBEM HÁ FÃS DELA!!
If she’s real or not doesn’t matter. I think that’s it’s a really cool thing that she became such a big hit. I mean, love her or hate her, almost everyone having anything to do with Japan (even if it’s just leeching pirated anime lol) knows who she is imo.
At least it’s a lot more respectful than the French program which showed one of the most squeaky sequences of the concert and then just had panelists groan and jeer at it until they shut it off.
miku is your queen…
Did Saki Fujita go to brazil in the video or is that japan?
The interviewer was in Japan.
Aww, this twintail blue haired chick is so cute! What anime is she on?
Nice try, but you’re way too far down the page to troll successfully.
LOL, well, it was worth a try.
Seriously though, even though I know of Hatsune Miku via hentai, all I know is she is from some game called Vocaloid. Wtf is Vocaloid?
Is there any chance I might be able to see Saki’s repertoir[sic] in contrast to her voicebank samples?
Look her up on Anime News Network or Wikipedia. She’s a seiyuu. The only series I’ve seen with her in them are Speed Grapher, Manabi Straight and Working!! though.
Did Saki Fujita go to brazil?Or is that japan?
I saw a news story about Miku on some news in the US. I can’t remember which one but I think it was ABC world news or something.
Is it me or is the first image really freakin’ awesome. That alone makes Miku Hatsune the best celebrity ever – her awesomeness is reflected in skill of her fans.
I’m Italian and I am ashamed of italian journalists -.- they say that probably Miku will be a passing phenomenon…well, it’s from 2001 (if i’m wrong correct me XD) that Vocaloid has been released…maybe Miku wasn’t the first one, but italian journalist shall inform themselves first instead of saying such idiocy…
Are you implying that Studio Aperto is made by actual journalists?
Miku is all the world needs. Not Justin Bieber shit.
Aha~ attack of the show… THIRTY-NINES giving day
It’s so very nice to read something in my mother tongue on Sankaku Complex, even if it’s just a one-liner.
Welcome, Miku!
(I’m from Brazil)
It was VERY strange to see my parents asking me about Miku and Vocaloid stuff out of nowhere – wasn’t watching TV at the moment. Like, “Hey, do you know something about this virtual singer? Wow, they really paid for this?!” lol
I live in Brazil too, was weird to see my parents do almost the same thing.
Also, they painted her on a very good light so I think Brazil will give a warm welcome to her when Miku starts the world domination plan.
The next step is to imagine yourself explaining your parents (or your boss at work) why you bougth a front row seat ticket if we had a Miku Concert here in Brazil (São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro)… 🙂
“I’ll go to a concert…” “What concert?” “Ah, with friends etc. GOTTA GO SEE YOU” lol
But with my RL friends and stuff I wouldn’t have problems explaining it, they all know about anime and these kind of stuff.
power of zettai ryouiki!
the media probably took the info from Sankaku, i always see their news in other sites…er wait, i am in Sankaku.
I bought the entire dvd concert from playasia and i love it worth it so it should still be making news in each place they go to do a concert, just puts some computer parts on hold i was going to get.
So all this news about hatsune miku conquering the whole world but not one piece of news about the start of the apocalypse? :O
Btw for those that haven’t heard yet:
Underneath italy lies an ancient volcano and recently it started to give signs about waking up(erupting)and it is estimated that the explosion from the eruption is going to be 200 times bigger than the explosion of the volcano from Iceland. This explosion is said to be big enough to destroy the entire European Continent and a part of Africa. Also between the locals in Italy it is said that the volcano is infact the god named “Vulcan”. And no those living in Asia/Australia/America will not be safe. The ash cloud is going to entirely block out the sun on the whole globe for more than a few years(ice age again). And yes this happens: plants die > animals die. Animals die > people die.
So a word of advice for everyone: Enjoy your life to the fullest

yep a news thread could be made out of this.
force-fed his beard??
yeah i lol`d.
But I don`t think it wins in terms of stupidity
with the “Dust broke my arm” headline i once saw….
Aftonbladet -_- that’s about as low as you can go in Sweden. Not that the rest of the rags are much better.
Does this holographic image have a holographic vagina?
Yea! Can’t wait for my Holodeck. =D
I think you meant Holodick
I’m italian and in that service they have compared hatsune miku to the tamagochi XD they said that Hatsune is nothing but a mode XD
There’s nothing strange in that comparison. Remember: Studioaperto is shit.
studioaperto is pure disinformation
fuckin’ damn right. 5 minutes of news about the politics and the other 20 minutes talking about gossip, stupid tv stars and idiotic reality show
like big brother and co.
well, in italy tv hasn’t even browcasted the finals episodes of Sailor Moon because there was shown too much skin for them to cover with cuts and censores so i’m not that surprised
So far it’s only the french media that said Vocaloid is horrible…
Nothing surprising abot that, they hate everything foreign…
É Fantástico… pã!
The Brazilian piece is kinda accurate actually. They treat Miku as a virtual idol, not exactly just the hologram of the concert. Actually, they don’t even say it’s a hologram on the stage, saying that “Crypton didn’t want to reveal what’s the technology behind the 3D visual effect on stage”. And then go on to say that anyone can make songs using her voice with Vocaloid.
The only thing they don’t get is that Vocaloid has other characters and stuff, but it was an article about “future trends” (they went on to talk about robotics and stuff like that), but I think that would be beyond the scope of what they were trying to tell.
Oh wow! Brazilian TV actually got all their facts right! I’m surprised!
I was one of those souls who submit this news.
In the beging I thought it’s gonna be awful, but it was really nice.
gotta love miku 😀
ROFL i live in Brazil :O
And after 3 minutes Miku got another 15 million fans.
I wonder if the diva’s gonna perform again on her birthday this year. She deserves at least dome type stadium, rather than that small zepp tokyo hall like last year.
there will be another concert
http://www.moetron.com/2010/12/08/hatsune-miku-2011-live-concert-in-tokyo-announced/
LOL! they’re doing it in Tokyo TOKYO!!!!!!!!!!!!
they’re doing it to troll a certain someone in office :3
leave it to Miku to troll in style!!!
Calling Miku a hologram is of course as accurate as calling the time in RTS games real.
Neither are linguistically or technically accurate.
But then calling journalists ‘informed’ is also rarely accurate as well.
So what Miku is not 3 dimensional projected light. Just a matter of time before we correct that at any rate.
they just copy/paste the same art1cle
Just waiting for the competition to come out. The Chinese (or Korean) competition.
Not a fan of Miku anyway.
I wish they published something like that in mah country.
But noo, those jerks are too busy publishing news about soccer players and other people I don’t care about
They can’t help remember that newscasters are old and “hologram” catches eyes not “vocaloid”
With english subs:

lol at cosplayer *facepalm*
Sometimes I tend forget how badmouthed we are on the Internet, at least until I read a post written in Spanish (my native language). Somehow swearing feels more wrong in your own language, I guess?
—
BTW, more english please!
jjajajajajajajajaajjajaajja, arriba cabron!
Fucking mexis, speak proper engrish.
so happy i cried a little bit! lol
Miku is the best thing SEGA/CRYPTON/HUMANITY has ever made i been a fan of her music waay befor she got this much attention im so happy she is getting the recognition she deserves and all the VOCALOIDS are the future of music!!
Well, at least the brazilian one said a little about Vocaloid and how her songs are made by many people and didn’t say that she was only a hologram.
What I guess nobody will ever get right is that not everyone on that stage is Miku.
And Artefact, giving credit where credit is due, they DID call Miku a virtual idol on the brazilian one.
I watched it on TV, it was awesome, cause they talk about Vocaloid and the seiyuu. Nice job.
the mexican rag: the new popstar is not of flesh and bone
As great as it is for Miku to gain international publicity, I would totally hate to seen the world to only know her as some “gimmick hologram”.
I hope the world media eventually figures out that Vocoloid is a voice synthesizer, in future media mentionings.
Well… the first media in this article mention exactly that, if you notice.
“[…] future media mentionings”
future media…
Crypton future media…
I see what you did there 🙂
They really need to stop calling Miku a hologram, she is a Vocaloid, and this world conquest bullshit doesn’t matter if the world sees her for something she’s not.
FIRST THING ANYBODY SAYS ~~WTF~~?
SECOND THING IS ~~OMG~~!
THIRD IS ~~~~WHAT THE FUCK~~~~!
SHORT CIRCUIT IN BRAIN CELLS~~!
Well Iam czech and I was watching what that mess was about when it was talked about. I dont really read the newspapers, so I missed it. But its mostly same as others.
It doesnt say anything about fandom and tries to put emphasy on fact she is hologram (what she isnt) and that she looks like manga character. And no a single word about Vocaloid.
Shouldn’t they have leek shaped glow sticks to wave around?
I think some did
I LOL’ed at “Make love, not nukes”.
“World is Mine” indeed. Long may the MikuMiku World Conquest continue.
They’re categorizing our Majesty as a hologram?!
ME MAD!
(brings the pitchforks & torches)
So its alright to have sex with her then, since she’s real?
Hitler wasn’t praised by his future German supporters right away when he participated in the first world war or had his first speeches.
Some people only started recognizing his charisma, he was getting publicity not as “the man who will save our country” but instead pretty much mocked at by those who didn’t actually bother listening to him just once (criticizing before actually knowing what something is about = world-spread human skill), saying he knows nothing, only to later be adored by those same people who didn’t actually try to listen to him.
This will be the same.
Miku will become the world’s majesty, and not just our own, this is only one of the first steps of Japan’s mastermind plan, k.
Jokes aside (..or not), I don’t mind if nothing happens either since I’m content being one of the few who actually know what Vocaloid is in this country.
Nice article thou i do agee they are misinterpretating the terms…
oh well, they will never know…
Sega rules…
How did you get downvoted for that?
Well they did make Project Diva KuDoes for that but all the fame should obviously go the CRYPTON MEDIA for bringing Hatsune Miku into this world. But WAT DA FAK ! would these other countries be interested in this in anyone’s guess, but very happy they did. The US might be next to fall, not just Attack of the Show and San Fransisco. Afterall the UK Fell. Her plan for world domination has surely begun. ALL HAIL THE VIRTUAL DIVA.
Also…
When is the next concert in US? How much? >_>
and… GOD! MY! OH! NOOOO Justin BEaver collaberation
EVER….. Gorilaz>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>that little fuck.
Great. So now when it spreads here to jersey you’ll have every fagbag semi nerd singing along to MELT.
or….
they can use the software to make their own music which is what i plan to do myself :3
Hm, well, I’m not surprised there.
…in other news Miku’s world conquest continues unabated….
(and just as planned)
I hope that soon I can go to Miku show in Brazil <3
We all hope friend, we all hope…
well the thing I don’t get. they know miku isn’t “really” alive, so it doesn’t make much sense trying to get attention from her or? :/.
btw the brazilian reporter called her Virtual Idol at 2:05
Beware of Mikumiku Bacteria♪ 🙂
Again with the probing~~!
The Hong Kong newspaper actually has “virtual song princess” in the header, and it’s high otaku population doesn’t make it such a surprise.
probe the non-believers they’ll love it! >:]
Leek probing sessions for non-believers.
The Hachune drone army continues to multiply-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YP0xhF97Asw
And those Tako Luka Plushie drones!
They love Miku. They see Miku. They get desperate. They lose sight of reality.
In defense of the first commenter: brazil somehow houses the most retarded internet users on earth. They are ten times more idiotic than your average btard, and are surprisingly proud of being so dumb. Must be something genetic, merely place a brazilian in front of a pc and he’ll regress to a mental age of ten.
I know because i live among them 🙁
“Call me racist if you want” lie you only say that because you know that you are a racist (as every foreigner) but want to feel better trying to say that you do not care what people think and say so just to type “your racist shit” if someone says this loses a little effect because you’ve kind of self-proclaimed racist (yes you’ve indirectly said that) and how is something that you already said it loses all sense but I think it’s pathetic and ridiculous to try to do something only for the people do not see you as racist

@13:35
You just proved everything anon said @12:53 to be true… Happy now?
Brazilians (on online games), when they are alone they are harmless, just watch out for packs of them, large numbers make them go retarded.
Oh and, @13:35 again, using cheats, anyone is “better” than others, you know?
Because of people like that I never reveal I’m Brazilian on online games or online communities.
OMG~! I understand it also… Now thats funny~~
@13:35
Thanks for proving my point, and yes, I can understand portuguese 🙂
VAI TOMAR NO SEU CU FILHO DA PUTA GRINGO NOOB! SOMOS BEM MELHORES QUE VCS EM JOGOS E SEMPRE VAI SER ASSIM, VAI SENTAR NUM SALAME E CHUPAR UM CANAVIAL DE ROLA!
@10:06
Because they’re the worst and most annoying playerbase in every online game I’ve played.
They suck at every aspect of the games and don’t give a crap if they ruin it for others or not by being retarded even when they know full-well what they’re doing.
They love to insult others in portuguese and be stupid about everything.
Call me racist if you want, but most of you guys don’t even try to be any better.
At least Miku dun get into Scandals/ Gays/ Les..
I dun want anymore Lady GaGa/ Elton John..
Yeah, I agree, it was very good comming from them.
Sorry, but not all Brazilian are retards. Though this was surprisingly good for something from Brazil’s mass media master, Globo.
Well I dont have nothing against you and I even agree that brazilians are a plague but as a brazilian myself I need to ask, bad english aside way you think we are all retards?
There are fan(atics) for God even though he is virtual. Why should this not be possible? (^_^)v
the conquest continues O.O
No surprise here, am I right people or am I right?…
But wow, this is still extraordinary btw…
@Megidola I was wondering why i didn’t see the article in the newspaper, i probably skipped it cause of the stupid camel picture.
@Megidola: That makes sense…
Too bad mass media doesn’t make sense at all.
It’s about time! They’re fuckin’ late!
Those damn sleeper cells really were sleeping?! Jam the signals and invade their mass media already!
Wow I remember reading that MX (Aus newspaper) article a while ago!! MX is a total pile of garbage but everyone who works in city areas and catches public transport home reads it on their trip because it’s given out (often by pretty girls) for free.. Never thought I’d see it mentioned here though haha!
MikuMiku’s world domination seems to be imminent.
lol Yeah, but MX is just Train Toilet Paper, everytime I get on on the train I have to move like 3 copies off the empty seat that I want to sit on.
Brazilian TV interviewing her seiyuu = Doing it Right
Australian newspaper categorising Miku with decorated camels and a man being force-fed his beard = Doing it Wrong
I guess Brazilians aren’t as retarded as I thought
well well
japan spread their stupidity around the world
Just following in the footsteps of good ol’ America.
It’s a hologram of a mascot for some singing synthesizer software. Get over it you fucking shut in.
This is a blog site thinly veiled with journalism and exaggeration, and other people here apparently can take it for what it is. Get over it, you fucking prick.
Too bad this isn’t the Ironic Complex and it’s Baby’s First Hardon Complex.
but you know… I cant stand them calling her a “hologram” … ummm Hologram my ass…
I live in Brazil as well.
I find the report very interesting and accurate in its essence. The question concerning holography is still unclear (at least if one takes into account the same concept in Physics). Obviously SEGA and CRYPTON do not intend to reveal what is the actual technique they employ to perform the phenomenon. Anyway, the important thing is that people are starting to know more about Miku.
The unique sad thing is that most developments in terms of technology take a considerable time to arrive in Latin countries (especially Brazil). Well… fortunately there are many other ways to buy things from Japan. XD
Miku was just a projection on a very thin see-through sheet. You can see the frame sometimes when the background lights up.
Oh noes, studio aperto is pure shit here in italy… btw, gogo miku!! 😉
Miku is recycling the same article ^^
Sometimes I feel bad that nobody really cares about the other vocaloids. Miku is like a spotlight vacuum.
RafaxD correspondente do Sankaku, pure win!
Sobre a reportagem, uma merda, esse Kovalick é um turista aproveitador, fica a verdade.
Ciao e Panina desu.
I’m glad awesome music gets world wide attention, now from different media than the internet. Why not. As long as the RL “idols” of the west don’t see a chance of getting attention like… lady gaga in duo with miku * _ * That would be… srsly ew. Not really happy no one could stop that though.
Vocaloid Sharon Apple next, please. Bring on the Valkyries as well.
Just thinking the same thing. Macross Plus came out 15 years ago! Talk about real? life imitating art. Holy Shit! Maybe Miku’s next progression will be to come out in the audience like Sharon Apple to deliver a mind fuck!
that “*facepalm*” comment in the second video made it for me. I really broke out into laughter, that’s too much xD
I know Sega is really great, too bad that those mass media guys don’t get it, they’re too freakin stupid or either really ignorant (or maybe both???).
And now our fanhearts are crying:
How dare they! Why !? and so on … but somehow I’m really glad that she’s getting “some” western publicity. ^^”
Editing of that segment was world class~
MIKU RULES THE GALAXY~~~
It isn’t that the mass media don’t get it. After all, she’s a product of the mass media (in Japan). The problem is hooking the viewer/reader into the story. And outside of Japan, only technophiles and otaku have a clue about the whole deal. It’s not part of the popular culture in the rest of the world. So the news coverage has to start from a point that their viewers/readers DO understand (or at least think they do), and the hologram is both a big piece of the technology for the performance and something that viewers are familiar with.
The Brazilian piece leads with the hologram and the concert, but then gets into more detail about the vocaloid technology and a bit with the seiyuu. At least as much detail as a 2-minute newsbite ever does. The only way the general public will ever “get” vocaloids is if one of the technology/science shows does a 10-minute segment or a full 30 minute show on them.
I still don’t like her. She’s just a computer. She’s supposed to be perfect.
it’s still a hologram, it’s not a person.
Peh, your Miku won’t make it past the curiosity section of any respectable newspaper.
Lol Mikufags are butthurt upon knowing the truth.
