I love how you would be considered a sick perv by the women for reading some of these...
...and then learn it is made by one.
win comment
Never would have guessed Kodomo no Jikan was done by a girl...
Same for Sekirai and Girls Bravo...
im only surprised by sekirei
Not really, I have always suspected the mangaka is a female.
I thought she expresses the girls' feelings (particularly insecurities) very well.
The anatomy, not so much.
You must've missed the issue where she covered a girls' first period and how to use a tampon with all-too-terrifying accuracy and clarity.
That pretty much sealed the deal for me.
Kodomo no Jikan is by a woman?? TAKE THAT AGNES-CHAN!
i though most people knew that already.
I like a woman who can write a good manga.
Ohhh Hare nochi Guu, I love that one, thanks Sankaku now I love it more. XD
the anime nearly brainwashed me. love the op song though
Yeah. Sadly there are a lot of female mangaka whose manga are really bad. Oh, I'm not saying any of the mangaka and manga mentioned above are bad, mind you.
A few were a bit of a surprise, the others already well known. Just goes to show women can relate not only to other women, but to men as well in the way they write their stories
I surprised to find out the mangaka of sekirei was a woman when i found out months ago.
Haha, Mitsudomoe was surprising. KnJ was when I first found out, too.
Kodomo no Jikan - everybody in Japan is a lolicon. No exceptions.
lol kekkeishi was sooo obvious. full metal however, not so much
Rarely Female mangaka can well drawn machine and have complex militaristic story background and politics involved.
so I found FMA mangaka is female is quite surprising indeed.
althrough lack of fanservice in FMA make me wonder that the mangaka maybe gay, but now i know its a woman, that explain everything
It shows the female mangaka can produce the ecchi goodness just as well as the males.
Possibly better - they probably do, after all, have a slightly better idea of how the female body works than the average male in the anime industry.
Actually CLAMP is a good point, since it seems to have set the standard for female-based manga in many minds, mine included, whether for better or for worse.
It makes me quite happy knowing FMA is written by a woman, but I'm not entirely sure why yet. As for women and fanservice, Winry is adorable and gorgeous because of her character and her style. In many ways the most sensual characters that tug at our heart strings AND loins are the ones that are beautiful through their action and not overly sexualized.
I've noticed that in doujinshi some of the most loved characters are much more 'respected' in their pornographic interpretations. One of my favorite characters is Eureka and I am very happy that the vast majority of doujinshi I've seen have been very enjoyable and almost canon stories that just involve sex. I've found occurrences like that to be the mark of a truly memorable set of characters. The very 'hot' female characters who lack relatability tend to get flooded with the more objectified sexual stories.
@anon02.25
True, although as far as ecchi anime goes realism tends to be at most an optional extra.
I guess in terms of who penned it, you really can't judge the book by it's cover,erm...,manga I mean.
Rumiko Takahashi wrote Inu Yasha and is the most well known female mangaka in Japan, hence why no surprise she didn't make a top ten for who you'd never guess was a woman.
Wow agreed - FMA surprised me the most. Mitsudomoe a bit as well as Kekkaishi. I've seen the mangaka names but is often hard for me to tell which are females. Definitely lots of females out there writting, guess its not just CLAMP...
hanamaru kindergarten didn't surprise me. it would take a woman to be able to have a hichschool girl getting pregnant, and not have all the drama that would normally be surrounding it.
sekirei, i cant speak for, as in never got into it, and thought the concept was stupid, but all i know of it is it seamed like a woman who wanted a shonen but knew nothing about making one good.
fma, is this what it takes to get a good shonen? a woman who wont came the damn thing go on forever? you have to imagine her editors wanted her to continue, does this mean that woman have bigger balls than men?
emma, did that surprise anyone?
saiyuuki, anyone thing someone besides a woman made that one?
only real surprise for me was hare+guu. but what came first, manga or anime, i wont give them credit for expanding on the anime if it was first.
kishimoto is a guy, but there also borderline 'BL' in naruto
Toumei Kei!!!!????
Bikkuri...
Guess the borderline 'BL' feeling I got from FMA is finally explained. Wasn't surprised by TOO many of them.
I was half surprised by hanamaru kindergarten, and Working !! and definitely Kodomo no Jikan. They just seemed so... male written!
A lot of these aren't very surprising... Up until i got to Kindaichi case files. That one had me eye bulging. The art style was killer.
I thought that Inuyasha and Kuroshitsuji were written by women... I guess I'm wrong...
Yet I'm glady surprised for FMA and Kekkaishi.
There's really no difference between male and female authors... when it comes to ecchi and porn, they write horrible stories with practically no exceptions.
You're also not saying any of them are good. Am I the only one who found that funny?
and there alot of men who suck bit time too , whats your point ?
those men prefer to be called homosexual.
I love how stuff like Mitsudomoe and Sekirei takes fanservice and girl-debauchery to hilarious heights.
I think a lot of male otakus don't understand that a lot of girls can be very receptive towards fanservice... FEMALE fanservice aside from just pretty guys. I used to know quite a few girls in school back in Japan who used to approach ME with anime/manga with female fanservice. And they liked it for the fanservice o_0
I suppose it's not too different from how guys like their own quirky and weird characters too. Including some shirtless hunks like Dante.
No wonder most male protagonist are dick-less.
the ones written by men, right?
hahah and naruto pwnz the,m all kinda provezz that men are betta at everithing hahra lolz suxxorzzz
*closes the book titled "trolling for beginners"

OM NOM NOM NOM.
Only one that surprised me was Full Metal. D:
Damn right. I always thought Hiromu Arakawa were a male. I mean, look at her drawing style....and her avatar which is a cow.
well, its the female version of bull, isnt it
why did this guy get a bad status?Hes right.
...Im confused.
That's the only one I DID know.
Me it's Mario Kaneda and Hajime Kazu (I knew the others were)
Kaworu and Ashika know what men want :D
helllll yaaa
This one was not a surprise for me when I found out, I somehow had a feeling the author was female.
Kodomo no Jikan on the other hand... wow.
That was the most shocking 1 on the entire list along with Sekirei & Girls Bravo...
Kekkaishi was so obvious it wasn't really needed to be mentioned imo though...
