The 9th episode of A Certain Magical Index II picks up immediately where the previous episode left off, though this time favouring story over service and setting up the series’ next story arc involving the newly introduced buxom sorceress Oriana Thompson.
Oriana, the shapely sorceress introduced last week, has a name that usually would be spelled Orianna – her name normally being given via katakana (オリアナ) makes it somewhat unclear which is the correct romaji spelling at first sight. Oriana will be arbitrarily selected for use here.
Her seiyuu, 柚木涼香 / Ryoka Yuzuki, has a career that differs significantly from the rest of the show’s female seiyuu. Only after bouts of acting, modeling, and similar during the 80s and early 90s did she become heavily involved in seiyuu work.
Many of her past roles are lesser-known supporting characters, however, she does have several respectable big-name performances to her credit: Utawarerumono’s moesome female lead Eruru, Queen’s Blade’s ultra-busty Cattleya, and Air’s Minagi.
Touma’s Imagine Breaker got an especially hard workout this episode, probably more so than in any two or three other season II episodes put together.
Stiyl and Tsuchimikado, who looks as out of place as he ever has, once again have a share a big amount of screentime this week.
Oriana’s forward-facing twin curl hair is another of Index’s female cast’s excellent character designs – they look quite lively bouncing around, and in future action scenes, might be used to good effect as an offset to match her highly animated bosom.

Stiyl blows an excellent cloud of smoke, especially for a mere cigarette!
The background score roaring as Stiyl enters this scene sounds curiously similar to the opening cues of occult-sex ero classic Bible Black’s main fanfare.
These two cute loli spent much of the episode still in the park recovering from last episode’s nun-nudity scene:

Fukiyose, hurrying back to join the scene, serves as the counterweight to Index and Komoe’s delicately flat chests by bringing her own.
Luckily Komoe had a top short enough to allow proper exposure.

Mikoto is just so much fun to watch when in full deredere mode, though Touma is just too clueless. To his credit, he is just sensitive enough to realize that she's completely flustered, though for completely different reasons than he had thought.
Speaking of Touma, not only does he get to shove Mikoto onto the ground, he gets to embrace Seiri as well. You're the man, Touma. lol
I love how Touma doesn't realize Mikotos feelings, which makes her even cuter in close encounter situations :P
Btw. drooling face on 08_09 pic is priceless.
