The newly unveiled preview of Kyoto Animation’s next moeblob anime “Nichijou” (“Everyday”) seems to suggest it may finally be the end of their moe-induced winning streak.
As one less than impressed viewer has it “If this sells KyoAni will need to be recognised as a new religion.”
Fortunately for Kyoto Animation’s prestigious reputation, the anime itself is merely an OVA bundled with volume 6 of the manga, due in March 2011.
This manga really is funny.
The scene where the principal of the school does a piledriver on a deer had me rollin
Moe animu with even less detailed graphic quality.
They really only want to make some money.
Honestly, this looks a lot more appealing than K-ON.
More vapid-faced schoolgirls who act like kindergartners just for the heck of it??? This is getting pretty old by now.:P
this looks fantastic 😀
I don’t get it… how is this MOE? I can’t even fap to this…
You then clearly don’t get the meaning of what moe is.
First people will start off by criticizing it… then once the show gets passed the second ep or three, people start liking it, and the ones that hated it will jump in as if they liked it all along.
But you have to admit, KyoAni should not turn into a company that is known for creating ONE TYPE of genre, they should expand more before they become a typecast of sorts and end up producing the same anime over and over.
Hmmm I don’t really know how to feel about this. I don’t really feel strongly about moe one way or another. The art is cute, a little lazy with the lack of shading though. I can’t really sense the style of humor from the trailer, so I really don’t know whether or not I’d like it. I’ll at least give it a shot when it comes out.
I generally like slow-paced slice-of-lifes but I’m really getting sick of the school setting.
My favorite yt comment: Fuck you Key, where is my Little Busters?
Looks like a mix of Azumanga, Pani Poni Dash and Lucky Star. There is no way in hell this won’t hit like a bomb.
Why is the music so fucking awful? Sounds as though it’s all played on some cheap 1990’s Yamaha keyboard.
evolution of kyoani reminds me a video i saw recently of evolution of DMC putting the shitty remake on top.
Let’s hope KyoAni doesn’t ruin the one by adding drama into it
Episode 1 to 12 the same SOL, episode 12, everyone crying -____-
KyoAni should make more Haruhi.
KyoAni shouldn’t be allowed to make anymore Haruhi anime, if I was the creator I would’ve demanded that a different studio be chosen rather than watch another one of those train wrecks again.
Could be just me or did anyone else watching the video think the school setting looked almost identical to Lucky Star at times…not that it’s a bad thing, I’m not sure yet
you’re probably the only person who doesn’t know all japanese schools look the same. lucky star is just the only other colourful anime you seen set in school, right?
Nah but definitely the most moe. I can honestly say I didn’t think that Clannad look liked this(if we are talking about the style of the anime instead of the actual setting, which I do know that yea, they look all the same)
The article is incorrect.
The OVA will be bundled with the 6th volume of the manga, which is due January 2011, and we’ll have a full-fledged TV anime in March.
And this seems like a mix of Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh at first glance. Looks promising either way.
Both the Kadokawa page and the Japanese Wikipedia article on the series confirm the details given in the article, as does the preview itself.
Seems awesome.
Does this series even have enough content to make a show out of ;9
Bespectacled Tsukomi Detected.
Added to Watchlist.
Screw you psychic powered haters.
omigawd i love it same face interchangeable hair and eye colors
Plagium homenage to:
– Pani Poni Dash!
– Azumanga Daioh!
> Implying KyoAni is not already recognised as a religion.
Looks fine to me. I like the style, nice and simple. The video doesn’t really tell you much of anything about the plot though.
There is no such thing as PLOT in Kyoani’s terms.
plot? in Nichijou?
KyoAni’s previous works has MORE plot than this
Since when “moeblob” became the new word for “slice-of-life” ?
And the character design and coloring are way too simple for being considered as ‘moe’
Give people a break with the trolling already. If they had changed the chara-design into some Haruhi/K-on ripoff (like what happened to SoRaNoWoTo) I would agree, but that’s definitely not the case here.
because it’s the studios’ fault, they made it like they have to infuse everything with moe these days
K-On! was your usual “slice-of-life” 4koma manga with your usual joshikousei characters and simple design
then KyoAni came, and made Yui retarded
anime studios should really stop these moefications
another case : Mayoi Neko was a touching light novel. it was the first time I cried by reading blocks of kana and kanji
but, the anime…. let’s just say I stopped watching halfway through the first episode. thank God I found it before it got animated. otherwise I’d diss it as just another moeblob trash
and the worst part is, they’re starting to infect their original works. I still haven’t got the will to buy K-On volume 4, and Mayoi Neko became unbearable past volume 6
I sold almost all of my manga before leaving Japan, but I loved Nichijou. I still remember some scenes. if it stays simple, fine. if not, i’m not gonna buy it. i hope they also offer non-bundled standard edition
I remember being unfazed when I first heard Kyo-Ani was going to do Lucky Star, with an every-day slice of life premise. Even more so with its nearly unknown cast (with Hirano Aya being the exception).
How wrong was I. I was quickly won over despite a slow start (somehow coinciding with Yamakan being replaced from the director post from episode 5).
Since then I have learned to look forward to slice-of-life genres, as it seems to be Kyo-Ani’s specialty, as well as their record for propelling previously little-known seiyuus into stardom. Just look at Hirano Aya and the cast of K-ON.
So yeah, this Kyo-Ani fanboy will certainly look forward to this with cautious optimism.
KyoAni … recognised as a new religion
Count me in.
reminds me of yotsuba
In order for Kyo-Ani to milk more money, they should animate the Full Metal Panic:Fumoffu second season. I miss the antics of Sousuke and Chidori (Yes ignore the Full Metal Panic 3)
The director hated doing that show.
Stop wishing for things you want Kyoani to do. They fully know what they’re doing and that’s why they’re successful.
At least the characters don’t look like they have down syndrome, which makes it a step up from most of Kyoani’s productions.
I really don’t understand why there’s so much negative reaction for this. I don’t see the problem in having another moe anime. Yes, I do like this genre, and I do believe that most of the stuff out there is crap, but people are already assuming this’ll be a bad anime. But I can’t really say anything, to be honest. After all, I always have a similar reaction towards pretty much every shonen anime out there.
That’s right, I prefer cuteness and nice characters over plot. That is, I do enjoy a nice plot every now and then, but I’d rather watch something with nice characters that I can have fun with.
the original manga is great. you might try reading it too before you come up with these kind of silly posts. good thing kyo-ani has a better eye for original material than you.
Getting vibes of Pani Poni Dash here.
“If this sells KyoAni will need to be recognised as a new religion.”
I thought it already is a religion for some
Well I’d much rather be in that religion instead of all the other crap religions out there.
One short commercial and everybody hates it? The manga is fucking hilarious! I have high hopes for this show. “KyoAni has become too popular, I must hate everything they do now so I can be special!”.
I think your statement is a bit strong. It doesn’t seem to me like “everybody hated it.” Here on SC, it looks like people are more than willing to at least try it from the comments I’ve read.
However, what’s wrong with not liking something anyway? It doesn’t necessarilly have to mean that the “hate” is connected with KyoAni as such. As for me, I liked some things made by this studio and some not. But this show looks boring to me – from the trailer that is. However, I didn’t read manga so what can I really know. But I don’t say it couldn’t be actually good, because one minute of trailer really proves nothing.
though the video doesn’t look impressive, the original manga is great, so this could well turn out to be something bigger than artefact can imagine.
but oh well that’s sankaku for you 🙂
This is Lucky Star v2.
There’s even Akira-sama and Shiraishi Minoru.
What’s this?
A preemptive troll-post to try and bias the opinion of people before the real moe-ing begins?
Give up. The moe shall never be defeated! Not over our dead [s]bodies[/s] wallets!!
NITORI??
I’m done with Kyo-Ani. For awhile I was expecting more out of them but I can see that they now don’t want to even touch anything out of their comfort zones.
The eyes look weird. They don’t match the rest. It’s like they are too saturated or vibrant or something.
I noticed that too. The eyes look as if they’re a completely different art style from the rest of the anime. Maybe it’s being used to emphasize that these girls are the main characters?
Also, did anyone else notice the massive lack of background characters in the public areas (the school and train station)? There was, I don’t know, three other girls facing away from the screen in one shot, but that’s about it…
I’m not really sure I can fap to this…
Release the existing FMP! on Blu-Ray before releasing a new series.
And I mean in real non-upscaled Blu-Ray.
If it was made between 2000-2006, then it’s impossible because that time period was when anime studios went digital but didn’t make the shows in HD. Older anime that was shot on 35mm film can done as BD.That’s why it’s fucking bull for companies (I’m looking at you Funimation) to release shows in BD from that early 00 period.
IIRC-The first anime made in HD was Zegapain.
Actually, the first anime that was originally made in HD (but downscaled to SD) was Cardcaptor Sakura.
Cardcaptor was cel animated and thus shot on film.
It’s not impossible, but it would have to be upscaled. That said, it should be possible to upscale it offline and do a much better job than, for example, an upscaling DVD player can do in realtime.
Doesn’t that girl look like wikipe-tan?
Damn, you’re right! And I was wondering where I saw that character before but couldn’t remember.
LONG LIVE KYOANI!
am I the only one who thinks they look like Kyou no go no ni chars
A better translation for 『日常』would be Slice of Life. Just saying.
anyone who uses the word “moeblob” is just incapable of seeing young girls as people instead of sexual objects. K-on and lucky star were very funny and I don’t know any female who watched but didn’t like either of them.
I WILL LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH
And it’s getting TV series too besides the OVA.
I’d watch it.
FMP new season plox
Why downrate this comment? :O
I mean, FMP TSR was pretty awesome, and I get the feeling that whenever Kadokawa decides to finally let there be a continuation, KyoAni will gladly do it.
FMP is Good.
Bitching is not.
I have nothing against moe… or random comedy… or slice of life but this looks way too uninteresting for me. And I don’t like the art style much, unique and kind of cute but again, seems too uninteresting.
Well, my want to watch list is too long anyway. ^^”
I’m curious about reviews when this’ll come out though.
The premise of K-ON is uninteresting too, but that didn’t stop them selling 1million dvds + blu-rays and spawning two seasons.
Well, that’s the reason I didn’t watch K-ON in the first place. Because I was not interested in the story at all. But then I started to play an musical instrument and my point of view on this series changed a bit. However, the new show seems like nothing I could relate to.
But it’s hard to tell after one minute of trailer, I admit.
yeah, I think K-ON!! is actually relevant to people who play instruments or know people in bands. which gives it this weird crossover appeal with Beck (and for some reason I liked Beck a lot more before I realized it’s like DBZ but instead of punching each other it’s like can koyuki outsing so-and-so or draw a bigger crowd. It’s still got its strong points though.)
While I like K-ON for what it is, you think all that expensive super-quality Blu-Ray versions and other expensive merchandise would sell if it wasn’t for the creepier segment of otakus who care mostly about the girls and not really the trivial jokes and the lighthearted laughs they can give you?
5 girls in a band having fun every day, sounds like a fairly good premise to me, and it was pulled off nicely, manga and anime.
i believe its based on a 4koma, it should be relitivly fast.
It’s not a 4koma, but the chapters are short.
as far as i’m concerned they can do whatever the fuck they want so long as its funny. i dont care if its moe, giant robot, or looks like stick figures, so long as i can lol watching it.
My motto’s similar. I watch anything, so long as it’s entertaining for me to watch.
I really want a new season of FMP!
Seconded, but this might be good too
I know that Nichijou is an epic school life manga, but identifying this as a moeblob is news for me.
This is good stuff yo.
I thought moeblob was just another term for slice-of-life comedy. but with the whole connotation that the characters had real moe appeal.
“less than impressed” viewers need to get over themselves and enjoy it for what it is.
It can be difficult to get over with since they’ve been successively producing the same kind of shit during these few years(since Kanon in 2007. 3 years to be exact). If they just pick up and continue from existing series, I don’t think anyone would have any reason to get annoyed.
If we are to take Nichijou too, this will be the 5th moe-themed series they produced CONSECUTIVELY.
Personally, I’d rather see them get on with Lucky Star season 2 already(Aya Hirano forgiveness imminent, lol) and Full Metal Panic, but what I feel matters jack.
personally i want a second fumuffu (sp) but that may just be me
You are [not] alone.
Garbage ? Who enjoys Garbage ?
Garbage was pretty good back in the day.I still like to listen to them from time to time.
I don’t tend to judge anime/manga till I get a better understanding of things, so I will say this anime may be good.
same here, I really tired of the whole shounen save the world bullshit, why can’t we just relax and have fun once in a while?
it will be, but it wont be for everyone, of that i know for a fact. even if it wasnt moe style the humor is either you get it, or you wtf hate it, there is little middle ground with this one.
If they put passion into it, it will be successful
I’m beginning to miss anime like Witch Hunter Robin and Monster…
Of course those are from different studios but GODDAMNIT KyoAni need to get their shit together and invest on something more mature once in a while!
>>I’m beginning to miss anime like Witch Hunter Robin and Monster…<<
Why, those shows are awful.
Robin is a 14 year old but 26 year old looking brat with super powers, that leaves the show midway leaving all the stupid supporting characters alone to fight monsters they can't possibly match and monster is about a doc that is too stupid to simply thank his savior.
Way to go for oversimplification.
You can do that to just about every show though. Sometimes the execution is just as important.
I mean,
Cowboy Bebop is about two people who are bad at holding onto money, one of whom eventually gets killed because he can’t get over his ex girlfriend.
Evangelion is a “Reboot the world” plot where the director uses the characters to pantomime his own psychological diary near the end.
Final Fantasy VII is about a guy who realizes he isn’t who he thought he was, and then after his childhood friend beats some sense into him he decides to he might as well get on that whole saving the world thing.
ok, maybe those sound more interesting.
mature is overrated, if i want mature, i read manga, when i want to lol i watch anime, it works out well that way, because mature manga hands on retarded drama that shouldn’t be there 90% of the time, in a manga i can read it fast and get it over with, but anime i have to watch it because i may miss some subs
It’s very tempting to assume that you’re the shallow type that can’t digest deep plots. Congratulations! The anime market is now saturated with them to satisfy people like you.
But seeing your past comments, it’s easy to see how you won’t back up from your standing even when multiple other comments prove you wrong, so I won’t even bother trying to justify what I said with you. Have a nice day.
So what you mean is you hate drama based on bad characterization, or obvious overuse of the idiot ball. You could also say that you hate pointless melodrama that actually takes itself far too seriously and becomes a sad convoluted mess that lives in constant mockery of actual drama.
ever watch an anime, and than this retarded drama thing happens? i mean you or anyone else can see clearly how you avoid it, anyone else wouldn’t have snapped like a twig, but for some reason they make the wrong (obviously wrong) choice. i fucking hate that kind of drama, and in anime, i have to sit through it and i fucking hate doing that, in manga i can just read it faster and get over it.
i know i’m not making allot of sense, especially if you aren’t even close to my point of view on it.
Why miss them? Ever watch Shiki? How about Shigurui? Ever get into Rainbow? What about Kaiba? What about Tatami Galaxy? If you want something shocking, deep, mature, artistic, just watch more Madhouse stuff. If KyoAni wants to keep doing moeblobs, why not? That is their forte.
You mean ero-anime don’t you.
Kono hentai yatsu me.
Mattaku.
writing japanese is only cool if you write it in kana
Shouldn’t it be ‘copy’ first, then ‘paste’?
Retort fail, lol.
kids only paste and copy in full kana
But… But… I thought only kids write in full kana!
“More realistic, deep and meaningful story that is not filled with cliches, overused tropes, and industry-standard settings and fanservices.”
Dude, that girl has blue hair! I’m already into this now!
If it’s not a new season of FMP, then I’m not interested.
fmp was shit
Shit ? O_o
I was in mainly for the “civilian life inapt” Sousuke, but the show isn’t THAT bad.
unless that’s a pitiful attempt at trolling, i’d like to know more about your opinion.
I just mean the guns were entertaining in Canaan, not just a group of giant, people-shaped robots shooting each other for 45 seconds without moving until one side disappears.
Well.. tastes differ. Canaan was THE SHIT.. in a bad way. Too emotional,…
…also, I like super strong characters. Preferably strong enough to never actually care for whom they are up against. Like.. a superhero without the supervillains. Who needs power balance and emotional confused characters in action anime? Reminds me of all the gundam anime I’ve seen. Stupid world peace endings are stupid. Seed could have gone all the way in obliterating humankind, but noooo.
I was asked what I thought so I said it.
Calling my complaints baseless is baseless. Give me something to like about the show
^ Hmm, I can see some unqualified, baseless and misguided rambling. I don’t know, was that supposed to be your comment?
Don’t feed the troll…
dunno if you can see my comment. I can’t, but in case you can, I meant Canaan, not Canon.
That was me. I’m strongly against mecha and gun based anime. It’s very hard to do entertainingly (like canon, for example. guns, not mecha) so I hate most of it.
FMP had those two stories, the relationship which never went pass the typical clumsy guy and tsukomi girl, and the other story was a war which no one cared about. lead character had no weakness except social ineptness, again, not particularly hard to find in anime.
What should I like about it?
Why? Because it actually attempted at a plot?
Screw your lolis.
Na, because these guys can’t find any tasteful DFC loli in it…
Strangely, I concur with anon.
Sagara and Chidori of course. The rest wasn’t exactly funny, but two are enough if they get lots of screentime. The first season also wasn’t really all that entertaining, but the the second raid and fumoffu made up for that.
no FMP was shit mecha if I remember correctly. if blowing up a school is what it takes for you to like an anime, then our tastes are just different. What character did you like?
Now you confuse FMP with some random gundam anime. FMP has two likeable characters and I for one find it funny to see sagara blow up the school.
I find myself hardly agree with you and the one before you also.
You guys just confuse FMP with FMA: Brotherhood.
Full Metal Panic is that awesome anime with a teen soldier switching between school an war in some desert, while full metal alchemist: brotherhood is a crappy anime based on some shitty manga, that once had an awesome adaption, which told it’s own story and didn’t adapt all the shitty comical reliefs and stupid shounen moments.
no, fmp was that shit mecha anime with no real story, dull humour and one likeable character.
this looks… plain.
Meh. Moeblob anime is pretty much a dime a dozen now.
Any schmuck can draw a cute girl by now. It takes substantially more skill and effort to draw masculine guys, gigantic mechas, noble circles of horrorterror beasts…fuck, pretty much anything, actually.
What really worries me is not the moe boom itself, but the long-term effects. What if anime is forever labeled as a genre of “creepy guys watching cute girls do everyday things”, and there’s barely enough artistic talent left to prove differently?
Also, she’s not your waifu. She’s a drawing. \:3c
work on K-ON!!! dammit
*facepalm*
Some people…
I swear…
Season 2 just passed and I did read somewhere that they’re planning for an OVA or movie or some shit.
Hold your horses, cowboy.
I’m kinda bored here…., Hope it’s will be funny
if i remember right, it is really funny, but i think its more slapstick 4koma,
Funny isn’t an adequate word to describe what you hope for stalker. People say K-ON is funny, but it’s not. People say Azumanga Daicrap is funny, but it isn’t. Lots of people actually enjoy slice of life, mostly because they themselves don’t have a real life so they do not realize how utterly boring it is.
They only thing you can hope for is, that it won’t be a moeblob, but it will be, so it most likely won’t be funny. Except your idea of funny is the equivalent of valium, which sadly is the case for all those K-On loving braindeads.
What genre isnt guilty for escapism? I dont have super powers, so I watch generic shonen action anime! etc.. though I personally like slice of life because I can relate to it. I don’t like K-ON though, not enough drama/romance.
FFFFFFUUUU! You used to be cool, KyoAni. Who will fulfill my need for a new FMP?
moe blob is the wort type of media ever ! theres no work behind that … easy design , placid story … anime world is ending .
Truly, this is an anime about girls coping with life without noses.
They all have the same fucking face except for the Nagato rip-off.
Wow, Kyoto studio sure did put a lot of effort into this piece of work. Boring story, copy/paste character models out from azumanga daioh, and animation that looks like it was done in some guy’s basement. It’s hard to know now if they’re not just making fun of the manga or not.
Then again these are the retards who thought “Endless Summer” from Haruhi Suzumiya was a good idea.
For the story part I won’t agree unless they won’t stick with manga, and/or try to moeificate them BEYOND THE LOGIC, but they’ll probably do both. Seriously, I think that moe isn’t bad unless it’s an overdone moe.
Characters are somewhat similar, and everyone sees it, but that’s not the problem here.
The quality of animation… well… I’m not used to talk about the quality of something that doesn’t have a one.
And about “Endless EIGHT”: from economical point of view it wasn’t retarded. It was retarded from all other perspectives though, so I think everyone can agree that this was retarded.
Conclusion: WHO THE F*** GAVE “-” TO THAT GUY?!?!?!?!
Man…looks like Kyoani “animation excellence” is reduced ONLY to moeblob animes,I hope this one is better than K-ON,but I would like to see an action anime made by this guys…such a “masterful” studio can’t only rely on moe to sell.
Queremos la continuación de Full metal panic. ¡Ya basta de Moe!
Another fuck**g moe anime…
I want to puke
Meh, the next anime i’m looking forward to is Level E, from the same guy who did Hunter X Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho.
Pff. I too thought that it reminds me of Azumanga Daioh too much. And guess what, Azumanga Daioh is awful anime. I don’t get it’s popularity .. none of the jokes were funny, just dumb =_=.
Maybe this indeed will end KyoAni’s winning streak .. Until Season 3 of K-On of course. ( Yes, I know it’s not planned but man can always hope, right ? )
god you say that when you have a K-on! style avatar makes your comment sound redundant. you shouldn’t even type, it makes you sound stupid.
What the eff are you going on about ? When did I say I don’t like K-On hm ? Actually it’s you who shouldn’t be allowed to type when you can’t even comprehend what you’re reading. I said I hate Azumanga, but I am hoping for K-On!! Season 3.
And my avatar is not K-On style you fking retard.
KyoAni needs to stop focusing on moe junk and put out a real man’s anime again. Where is our continuation of Full Metal Panic?
WTF… you mean we’ve stopped religiously defending the moe fad?? Where are all those crazed moe fans when you need them?
“5 girls in a band having fun every day, sounds like a fairly good premise to me, and it was pulled off nicely, manga and anime.”
Oh… there we are.
veo a Tsukasa, Kaorin, Nagato Yuki, Mugi, a muchas caras conocidas, ya ni que decír de los de Kyoani, ya no tienen imaginación
Yes. Full Metal Panic, bitches.
No, they need to put out a Little Busters! anime. Needs moar adaptions of Key’s visual novels!
Wtf? This looks better then K-On and alot of other moe shit
I’m truly miss FMP … It’s legendary and an example for good anime.
>”real man’s anime”
>wants a shounen show
yeah, right
there can never be enough SOL, so i look forward to this one.
haters gonna hate.
great. i was getting tire of fapping to the old stuff
a shonen battle anime, that slapstick, and running gag, and its style is uber moe, and has heavy drama at random intervals, it could be fucked up enough to be awesome
so it’s alien 9 with dokuro-chan?
not sure if this would work but i’d watch it
Been waiting for that ever since Clannad: After Story ended.
KyoAni + Key = Gold.
Or a next Key adaption is fine too.
Little Buster anyone?
Reminds me of Azumanga.
This could be interesting…
That blue-haired girl…
Ika-chan + Chiyo-chan + Blender
But…Will it blend..?
Looks more like a poor man’s Yotsuba&! to me…
Actually th blue-haired girl is the spitting image of Yotsuba sans two ponytails.
This is Azumanga according to Osaka…
It’s like a more fatalistic, more frantic, more random Azumanga.
It’s hilarious to me so far. VERY random jokes.
I have a feeling everybody is gonna hate it the first few weeks and go “I AM DROPPING THIS SHOW” and then a few weeks later, the remaining people will stick with it and maybe even create a bit of a following. Nobody, even Lucky Star manga fans thought that show would get that huge either.
If this was made into a full series then it would probably build a sizable fan base despite the initial negative reaction.
Yayification. More fap materials.
…
I’ll see if this show is good. Me likes KyoAni.
in japan the manga its based off of is realy popular, and i believe this is an oav ish thing
What would end it is the K-ON! movie’s Blu-ray not selling 50,000 copies.
Killing K-on would be easy. Just have its author start off the university series with the girls talking about, or even hanging out with, their boyfriends. The otaku tears would flow about all their dear wives being whores
aren’t they at an all female university?
some how i smell lesbians more than anything else. and asunya
lol you are talking about a movies bluray.
k-on movie is going to make a profit in box office at least double the production cost, the bluray is going to be the sprinkles on the cake.
50k only? You’re lowballing it. If Nanoha can pull off 58k Blu-ray’s in first week sales K-ON! will easily do at least 70k.
And I’ll be one of them.
Oh yes, and Nichijou looks fantastic.
I did say “end” not “encourage it even further.”
The producers have said the bulk of the profits come from disc sales, so what actually happens at the half a dozen theatres it is shown at probably doesn’t concern them too much…
Crazed otaku buy three copies each, they’ll easily get 50k copies. It’s K-ON, after all.
You can’t pin this all on KyoAni, they’re just a company looking for work.
If an investor carrying a briefcase full of cash walks into their office and asks them to make Moeblob-Anime-Series-X, do you actually believe they’re going to say “Sorry, due to a few complaints from a few fans, we don’t do moeblob anymore;”then turn them away along with their millions?
