Only a few people managed to realize that Gainax made a very good parody of various western and eastern animation-styles. Most just thought the "animation was strange" for the first episode. I love their take on "episodic" content. They are really taking it to the extreme. Seeing how many stories can hardly fir into a single string of events. More like a multiverse kind of thing actually.

Where the hell they got their weapons out in the first episode?

1.- Panty didn't remove her bikini bottom for her gun.
2.- Scanty was wearing a trikini, somehow she just pulled both of her guns.
3.- Kneesocks didn't brought any kind of socks with her and somehow pulled out both scythes.
