I don’t understand how my credit is tarnished for that. Remind me to kiss Miku’s ass more in my next post.

  • Hatsune Miku English Version Announced:
Japanese has the advantage of being *extremely* sonorous. The language sounds good because vowels consume every second or third letter of their language (vowels are the most sonorous letters – I’ve taken numerous linguistics courses). English will be hard because it starts sentences with a bunch of consonants at times (ie; ‘str’eet) – this will be extremely hard to compensate for. I think that’s why Miku can work so well – speaking Japanese (in terms of vocal demands) is not too difficult; …

  • Hatsune Miku English Version Announced:
Mmmm, meaning by English Miku will be saying “I lub you”? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvHxtkKVDBA Can’t wait. It’s not that hard to find a cute sounding singer to be the sample for an English Miku. Think of the songs in Persona 3 and 4, you can’t make out what she’s saying half of the time. I think a Japanese singing English would be somewhat an unprofessional decision. A few Japanese girls would be alright, ie; Bonnie Pink or (though definitely not suitable for Miku) Utada who both have …

That would ruin it. Unless the voice can *perfectly* enunciate her “L”‘s, and (as I described before, the different “A” sounds required for English, it’ll be a waste of time to make if they make a Japanese sounding English girl. I’m worried. I can’t wait to hear it, but I’m worried. English is *not* easy to duplicate, programs now sound pretty hack. Hopefully they’ll do enough for her to make sure “earth” doesn’t sound like: “ee-arth”, and “you-ser” [user], doesn’t sound like a Japanese “oo-ser …

  • William Gibson Not Impressed by Hatsune Miku:
I disagree – the change in tones she makes sound waaaay to fake. She’s not as sonorant as real singers. I don’t understand her appeal for that reason, other than her absolute flexibility. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKggVt5Pldo&feature=related Bakemonogatari ED with Miku http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqPQ_I2xaZQ&feature=related Supercell doing the ED. Human’s still have way better range and clarity. I like what Miku does for people who have the IDEAS but not the talents (players, …
