Nori, Chinese Style

More China quality produce emerges – this time nori (laver, or edible seaweed), made from quality black plastic instead of mere seaweed as might be expected…

There are some understandable doubts as to whether the ISO mark is genuine. Reportedly Malaysian authorities later banned imports of the ersatz seaweed, though Beijing shoppers seem to have had no such luck.

Coming from the nation that makes bridges out of rubbish and cooking oil from sewage, it could be worse, if barely.

Have you checked the population of China recently? Do you know how much stuff that many people can produce? Hell, one a month from a relatively under-developed country? That's pretty good. If one was posted every week or something, I'd see it more like how you guys do, but for Christ's sake, it's not that often. Everyone just likes posting information on this kind of stuff on EVERY occasion possible. If it's, for example, America, they'd ignore it. But if it's China, the media and the internet are so quick to pick up on it and dramatize it.

it is a disgrace to have people in the same shade as me come up with so much shit just for personal gain, which seems to be the china way. if they truly wish to prosper, then why are they still willing to overlook these problems that put them in bad such light around the world? is it because they still want to retain what little pride they once possibly had? (although i'm pretty sure all of that has been already extinguished from the very beginning) little knows what these people, if you can still see any trace of their human side, have running around in their narrow minds to not justify these ills before judging others, at least in my eyes. so you think you can dance? bring it china!!!

You know this can be avoided by not ever buying any food item that is from China.
They have no real FDA so what do think will happen.

I for example will not buy fish from China esp if it's farm raised.

    My mom once said :

Time of the Europeans/Americans is over long ago, you must study Chinese language (I'm a Chinese in Malaysia btw, so fuck off if you guys say shit like "GTFO BACK TO CHINA n00b"). Nowadays consumer products are genuinely manufactured from China, it's cheaper than other products but the quality is still good!

With shits like this, I'm not buying any China quality. Being a Chinese myself, I can tell how selfish is the "Chinese Pride", Chinese people tend to be very competitive and always stomp down others, thinking that they are the best.

As long as you don't try to stir shit for political gains, I don't care if you're Chinese, Indian or even Jew(though Malaysia has zero diplomatic relations with Israel, making Israel-passport holders unable to get in).

We can enjoy lots of good hybrid food from surrounding regions, use pirated softwares, and use first-class facilities even though we mostly don't have first-class mentality and talent thanks to Malaysia being peaceful. Some of those may be guilty pleasures, but we must try to keep our country in order so that we won't end up killing each other.

We have brown, yellow, white and black skin, but inside, we all bleed red and we all produce the same stinky shit(I've had a brief history of being a public toilet cleaner, so I have a VERY GOOD IDEA). You keep outta my way, and I'll keep outta yours.

Can't you tell the difference between 'import' and 'export'?

IMPORT = getting stuff from other countries
EXPORT = SELLING stuff to other countries

Malaysia didn't make those bootleg seaweeds. They're the victim for taking it in. China is still the ones making these.

Since Malay cooking don't ever use seaweed, and most Malaysians don't eat seaweed on regular basis, chances are the Chinese Malaysians are the ones who'll mutate and become zombies.

Reading the legal document is the hardest part.

    Comment by Anonymous
    16:07 24/10/2010 # ! Neutral (0)

All ISO 9001 means is that you rigidly follow a set of procedures in your quality manual. So, if your quality manual say:

    1) Buy plastic
    2) Repackage
    3) Sell "seaweed"
    4) ?????
    5) PROFIT

then as long as that's exactly what you do, you can get ISO 9001.

This is a different type of seaweed that hasn't been press-dried or roasted.

Japanese Nori is roasted and pressed over open flame.

this Seaweed is primarily used in soups.
