Touchable Love Plus Offers Fingering Action

The latest development in the world of virtual girlfriends incorporates technology allowing the lonely user to interact directly with the girls in augmented reality fashion.
In collaboration with the Tokyo University’s Graduate School of Information Science and Technology and Keio University’s Graduate School of Media design, Konami was able to demonstrate a “tangible” version of Love Plus at the recent Digital Content Expo 2010.
Using the RePro 3D interface, exhibitors were able to create a touchable augmented reality demo of super-deformed versions of the girls from Love Plus.
Touching one of the girls results in the other two retreating. The girls were said to be capable of responding to to tactile simulation (although not that kind of stimulation), turning to look at the toucher.
For those wondering about just what significance this bears, the current implementations of AR games (and Love Plus in particular) generally only allow the virtual character to statuesquely stand on a reference point, with interaction possible only through the controller of the PC/console providing the experience.
With some refinement it is easy to imagine players being able to prod or otherwise molest an AR character using a controller or even their hands, opening up the next level in interactive AR.

So far there has been no news as to whether or not Konami plans to utilize this technology and make it an official feature for the next instalment of Love Plus, although the game is already famous for its extensive use of augmented reality.

Augmented reality has the power to insert into our perceptions, objects that cannot exist in the real World.
Until technology advances enough for real sexbots it will make an interesting replacement. And by the time sexbots get available, augmented reality will be capable to insert fantasies that cannot physically be built (not sure what exactly... Magic clothes maybe?)

I investigated the topic after it went up. It looks like all this talk about fuckable holograms is entirely possible.
Apparently some of the people who tested it out reported that touching the girls felt like getting a bite. I have a feeling a little bit of this was implemented in the display:
