Touhou Anime Announced

The first “official” Touhou anime has been announced.
The anime project is to be produced by ufotable, and is intended as a celebration of the 10th anniversary of anime store Animate’s mascot character “Anime Tencho” (“anime store manager”), probably best known internationally for his appearances on Lucky Star, although otherwise his anniversary is likely a matter of supreme indifference even to Japanese anime fans.
Though apparently not an immediate indication of a full TV anime, speculation now centres on the prospect of a full anime now Touhou appears finally to have received permission for a formal anime adaptation (as opposed to the earlier doujin affair).

Seeing how Touhou merchandises have been popping up left and right, it was only a matter of time.
I hope the characters are still voiced by the ones from that unofficial OVA.

ZUN didn't make Touhou popular, the fanbase that spread did.
I'll agree I learned about touhou from Suika's mugen character I found out about on a youtube video and then downloaded off mugen infantry.
I then found artwork and the wiki after searching her name and then decided to try ESoD and IaMP.

Update 2: On Friday, Touhou Project creator ZUN posted on his Twitter account that the "Anime Tenchou x Touhou Project" anime is a derivative work, so he does not know the details about it. Later on Friday, a Twitter user named show_fb asked ZUN about the "Ikebukuro Hakurei Jinja" entity that is listed in the copyright notice for an image of the "Anime Tenchou x Touhou Project" anime. ZUN replied that he is not involved in that entity, and added that he thinks it is a pen name for the people drawing art in the derivative work.

My prediction: 3 minute segment with Anime Tenchou doing hotblooded speech while Touhou happens in the background, possibly in claymation. Don't lose sight of why this animation project was started.
I think this is a realistic expectation.

Will most likely be just like what happened to Black Rock Shooter. A lot of hype, postponements and eventually end up with a single OVA that don't meet most of the people's expectations because of too much 'moe shit'.
I am interested in this though, but it will probably be a single episode for a festival in the end.
Everything that's hyped will always ended up being a disappointment, no matter how good or bad it is.. thanks to the human psychology called "High Expectation"
Refer to Transformers ROTF, Avatar The Last Airbender, Clash of The Titans 2010, The Expendables, Resident Afterlife etc... although all those I listed were indeed bad.

...Touhou is becoming an anime. A day I've been preparing for for quite some time. With all the hype it's getting, I knew this day would come. Hopefully it doesn't go out of control.
I don't want to see it get out of hand.
