2ch’s renowned population of architectural critics have assembled an impressive collection of buildings which in their collective estimation qualify as “creepy” – an appraisal few are likely to find fault with.
Japan in particular is no slouch in providing examples of ill-advised architecture…
Apart from the dilapidated structures and photoshopped images, some of these are pretty decent.
The abandoned island looks nice, and some buildings look like they came out of Metal Slug.
The common thing I've observed from the pictures is that people aren't attracted to dark buildings. They look ominous when you look at them on dark hours.
But some of these buildings were made for condensed housing plans for major population centers. I doubt looking bad was their plan. Pollution also makes structures look dull.
That mining excavator actually does exist. Teehee... it sends a shiver down my spine every time I look at it because it's also in S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Call of Pripyat.
Just wait until some mutant dogs jump out of the bushes and attacks you ingame. ARGHGHGHGHGHHHH!!!
last pic was awesome and the book building too
but a lot of these buildings are scary as fuc********* like silent hill status man
and the Nazi designed building I'm sure it was just some odddd coincidence
And the mine excavator is located near Cologne in Germany, it was recently moved from a depleted coal deposit to a newly established one. They moved it across an autobahn and several other obstacles.
However, beautiful or not I'd like to be in most of these places in person, there's something surreal about just being inside or around some of these buildings.
Man, some of these look like they'd have to be haunted.
I find the identical ones really creepy myself. I could never live in a place with identical houses stretching so far. I'd forget which one was mine and keep trying to get into the wrong house.
There are many English-speaking websites and magazines about architecture, but its newsworthy when a Japanese site covers architecture? There are English-speaking message boards that occasionally have similar threads, but they don't count unless it comes from 2ch?
I don't expect Sankaku Complex to cover English-speaking news, but I don't see why Sankaku Complex worships 2ch. From what I've read, 2ch doesn't even like Sankaku Complex!
29+34 = evil headquarters
47 = Disney store
48 = Flintstones architecture
55 = trailer tetris
58 = early stages of FFVII's Midgar
68 = Shakkoumon
72~ = built out of a battleship
86 = dur hur, look, a bookshelf
90~ = copypasta O_o
102 = samurai pizza cats' HQ
104-106 = kaiju! Shinkenger come quick!
107~ = Tartarus from Persona 3
116 = Devastator from Transformers
126 = gaping portal to the dark world? XD
Some aren't even building but huge machines... but most looks great! I would love to live alone in such a big or abandoned building. Or shattered traditionala japanese house with ghost of drunk ronin XD
#47 is building especially made to look like it does - it's named "twisted house" and is in the city next to mine.
Number 34 is a building south of Osaka I can see from school. My teachers told me it's apparently the headquarters of a cult. So, there's some +creepy points.
The round one with the open space in the center is the Ponte in Johannesburg and I saw a few pics of hillbrow(credits to the guy who took the fotos hillbrow is the most dangerous place in south africa)
But it's nice to see pics of Johannesburg where i live
Circular building... Kara no kyoukai anyone? o_o
Picture 35 is "near" my home. it is completely isolated from any other buildings for at least 4km!

PILDER ON
some look like they can transform and roll-out anytime.
Some of those buildings look pretty cool.
Why does Sankaku Complex always report on 2ch when 2ch seems like a bunch of crazy idiots from Japan that hate everything that isn't 2ch?

I have a strong urge to go explore that tiny island of abandoned buildings.
The circular waterfall is epic.
I would pay to live in the first building picture
The #51 its from FLCL O_O! 。へ。
lol at pic 64. Also, @54, 58: just because you can doesn't mean you should.
last pic was awesome and the book building too

So I remembered right, yeah! I knew I have seen pic #117 sometime before.
And Kara no Kyoukai has come to my mind instantly after seeing the first buildings. :o
Fuck the haters, I wish MORE buildings looked this insane and dilapidated.
I think if all buildings looked like this people wouldn't even be able to tell reality from a dream or horror film
It'd be like silent hill man
picture 14 is rollercoaster i guess?
and last picture is epic win ^^
pictures 17 and 18 is the original reference for the building in Sketchbook full colors.
I'd say some of these are beautiful instead.
However, beautiful or not I'd like to be in most of these places in person, there's something surreal about just being inside or around some of these buildings.
Hell, some of these so remind me of playing Fragile. The only thing missing in these pictures is a creepy abandoned theme park.
Some guy summoned his persona Arahabaki!
Creepy? Tasteful.
I thought the first few pics were from some water reservoir -.-
Picture 14 is near Shinimamiya Station in Osaka, right next to Spa World. The picture must be taken from one of the upper floors of the Raizan Hotel.
Ahaha the last picture with mazinga is the best
Man, some of these look like they'd have to be haunted.
I find the identical ones really creepy myself. I could never live in a place with identical houses stretching so far. I'd forget which one was mine and keep trying to get into the wrong house.
The worst thing is that those houses have the same number. My friend lived in one.
Some of those buildings will be featured in the next fallout game :D
You want creepy buildings? look for Antoni Gaudy.

At pic #67, is that in Russia?
Number 32 was strange. I still wonder how a city would allow someone to build some kind of next on a balcony.
And 124 well, If many people notice this one, well...
Some of them look kind of cool to me...
pic 79 Battleship Yamato O_O
I think I nuked #29 in Mercenaries.

The building from D-gray Man and Macross's head!! So, Evangelion was real?
Anyone else note the fact that a bunch of weird and decrepit buildings were posted on 9/11? Is Sankaku trying to determine future targets? :P
Some of those look kinda like certain locations from Air Gear.
Some of them looks unstable. Some of them are pure epic.
Whats so creepy about 51?
Id say its sad that they tore down such house, but not creepy.
Some aren't even building but huge machines... but most looks great! I would love to live alone in such a big or abandoned building. Or shattered traditionala japanese house with ghost of drunk ronin XD
#47 is building especially made to look like it does - it's named "twisted house" and is in the city next to mine.
Have been at 47! Looks suprisingly normal inside...
Some amazing looking movies here, some are creepy. Many are interesting. Especially the battle-ship style "New Sky Building" with its modular design.

Pretty sure a lot of those are fake ..
Some of them are probably gay.
Is that Tsutenkaku I spy?
jest i Sopot ;]
If Im not mistaken, pic 50 is an art museam in Europe. I remember seeing it. Berlin or Prague. I dont remember.
Some of these dont look that creepy. Strange, but not creepy.
